For Joe (Motorhead Extraordinaire) I have to make the lower trunk gutter so I thought I would show some of what goes into it. Now this is a lot tougher then it looks.

I am both impressed and psyched. Looking real good.

Dan, are you heading to the L.A. Roadster Show next month in Pomona?

    Dan,

I also need the two steel brackets that bolt to the rear corners of the frame which are used to bolt the body/bumper onto. Do you know which ones I am referring to?

I dunno, all these people saying this is awesome and they are in awe? Clearly these descriptives fall WAY short!!
There isn't the words to describe just how good your work is, oh to just have a thousandth of your talent.

    Doc.

  11. Nice!
What do you use to do your major shaping(large panels)?
Ever try oxy/acet to join your panels?...even less finish work!

Thanks guys its a lot of work but its all fun to this sneaking up on 64 year old. Joe I don't have extra brackets. I will ck my frame for this car & see if they are on it & post pictures to make sure its what you are talking about.

Nice weather yesterday so the honey do list took part of the day but I did get some time in on the trunk gutter for Joe. I was not happy with the inner flange part the rolled lip at the top is just shy of 3/16 of an inch so it is hard to roll over. when you turn the first 90 it wants to pull & straighten the contour curve that need's to be there, then when you roll it over the rest of the way it pulls again.

Today I will trim & fit the 2 sections together & start tig tacking them.
I do believe they call this a learning curve.

How are you trying to roll the the small edge that folds back on itself?
You would be better to fold and stretch your angle then throw your 90.
You would also find it easier to make your welded join on the leg of the other angle instead of the centre of the piece, you would get less warpage, the whole job would be easier to control and the clean up grind would be a hell of a lot less work.

It still needs a little grinding & clean up sanding then on to the last piece the left side.

I have Max working on a 57 Pontiac 4 dr just some rust out repair to start & the replacement panels that are available for the floor are way off & the small floor pan sections that the customer supplyed need a lot of help to work & look close .
    DSCN7527.JPG
Left front floor the rust mites were hungry.
    DSCN7613.JPG
The panel on the left is what we got the one on the right is reworked, now a lot for a closer fit & original look.
    DSCN7633.JPG
    Rust area cut out.
    DSCN7639.JPG
Por 15 the inside lower floor support.
    DSCN7641.JPG
Rust cleaned where the heater core goes in the floor.
    DSCN7625.JPG
Another shot of the replacement & modified floor pan.
    DSCN7632.JPG
New heater delete Max made & the front section fit in place.
    DSCN7636.JPG
Heater delete will be screwed in just in case the owner wants the old style heater reinstalled later & floor pan section is fully tig welded in.
    DSCN7648.JPG
More of the welded front section.
    DSCN7649.JPG
    More to come.

Max started on the left rear floor it was not as bad as the front but very thin in areas plus thru so we just replaced it in stead of several small patches for a cleaner & stronger floor.
