Just purchased a 36 coupe and working out a few bugs. The front sheet metal ( hood, hood sides, grill, headlight piece, and fenders) are not aligned very well. Is there a good way to attach this. I do not need it perfect but I know it could be much better.

The frame must be straight and square and any other description there might be. Then, trial and error. Lots of patience.

I would start with aligning the hood to the cowl, and work from there. You may find you will have to make compromises and re-adjust everything. You may have to ream some holes oversize to get the adjustability needed, but if the frame is not straight, you will be fighting a major battle.

Way back I was helping a friend with a 36 convertible and nothing wanted to line up. We learned the car had been dropped off of a high trailer and the frame was bent down about 2” in the middle. We got it straightened and every thing lined up correctly.

I never worked on one, but I was told by more than one guy... If Henry put a 3/8 hole in the fender only use a 5/16 bolt in it. The holes are one size bigger than the required bolt. That is the adjustment area.
