You're looking at a true barn find! Well, really a shipping container find.

About 12 years ago I found and removed this '36 from a shipping container in San Francisco where, according to the last registration tag, it had been sitting since 1969 (assembled in the Richmond Ford plant - this is a real Bay Area car). I cleaned out the carb and fuel line/tank, changed the plugs, had the distributor rebuilt and it fired up. Didn't run too good so I replaced the 21-stud with another one (built by Motor City Flatheads - have documentation), trans and rearend all of which were rebuilt to participate in the Great American Race. Runs great now!

This car presents really well with 95% original paint, a few dents and scratches, and one old school not-quite-Bondo patch. So you can drive it and not worry. The kicker is that it has ZERO rust - nada. I've pulled the hood and hood sides for more of a Hot Rod look but they're in great shape and come with the car. This car is real! It even has the original interior (no holes in the seat upolestry and headliner is tight) and roof insert. I'll even throw in all the cool stuff that came in the trunk (including a newspaper sports section from 1941 that lists Joe Dimaggio as an active player). Seriously! Opening this car up was like conducting an archeological dig (check out the last picture that shows the trunk full of old stuff as I found it).

I've installed a dropped front axle, tube shocks (front and rear), juice brakes, electric fuel pump, recored radiator, electric fan (no overheating), converted electrics to 12 volts, chromed bumpers and spare tire cover and windshield frame, Wheel Vintiques Genny 16 inch wheels (including hub caps not shown in pictures), Firestone bias tires and other stuff I've forgotten. Other than the electric fuel pump and fan (which are for reliability) I built it like a kid would have in the 40s or 50s.

Other than to a few local cruise nights, the last time out I drove it over the hill to the Dream Machines show in Half Moon Bay this year - absolutely no problems.

I'd love the car to stay in the Bay Area but...

Not available this weekend but I am next week. Email, call or text me if you're interested.
