1935 Wheel Spacers for 1937-41 Brakes

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SinastirSpeedShop, Oct 28, 2009.

  1. I understand you need a spacer to run 35 17'' wheels on 1937-1941 brakes. My question is can someone post a link to a company/website that sell them?

Also does anyone have a picture of their rod running them?

    1935 wheels are 16"
36-39 wheels are the wide 5
    your wires fit 40-48 hubs

If this is the spacer I am thinking about it is there because the newer brake drums do not have a raise area for the wire wheel to contact near the center when torquing wheel down. The old drums had a raised area. For what is worth I ran 16" wires on my drums without the spacers for years but with a stock 4 banger. I think MT enterprises has some pictures of this contact area

that is the one I was thinking about. The raised lip in the center is to contact the wheel in the center since the raised area is missing on the newer drums

  11. Okay I was looking at those drums. Does anyone make them anymore or do you have to find orginials in good shape?

Stay away from the new drums made in China.
I carry the USA made drums for my Lincoln brakes,(will work with Ford too)

I made several sets on my cnc mill out of aluminum for my personnel stuff. It does feel better (safer) when you go to tighten the lugnuts up. I did not have to change studs. Sorry, I don't have an actual pic.
