Hi everyone, here is another new project for the shop. Its a 1934 Ford Vicky, and a right hand drive one from England to boot. The car is really nice and complete. The owner wants a good driver so were going to be doing some changes to the car. Were ordering a chassis from TCI. Its going to run a 327 corvette motor and a 700r4 trans. He wants the same stance as the California Kid coupe has. So were probably going to be running halibrand style rims and big and little tires.

Then on the body were going to be doing some major changes to the back of the car. I'm going to be removing the rear trunk, and shaping a panel and all the bead lines like a 33' Vicky. I'm sure were going to get some of you that think were crazy but we both don't like the trunk panel, and lack of beads like the 33' Vicky has. But I like how much more the roof slopes on the 34' Vicky so that should make it even better. Then were going to fill the roof and fix any other sheet metal issues it has. Should make a clean driver.

Nice project, I agree the '33 has a better looking back half. Bob

I'll be following this with interest. I had a '34 Vicky and I liked the opening trunk - first year for Ford to have an integral trunk. I still have a pair of tail lights and the 1934 only, Vicky only, long tail light stands. They are hell to find. At least you have one of them....

There are two main things that we are going to change on the 34' to resemble the 33' more.

First is to shorten the bottom of the car under the trunk and raise it up to the height of the Vicky so that we can run a gas tank cover.

Second is to add the small bead from the drip rail around the back of the car under the rear window.

I think those things will really make this look clean, almost a transition Vicky from 33' to 34'.

Cool - looking forward to following this build. I think the 34 is nicer at the rear.

I got the car all tore apart to take down to the sand blasters today. Everything looks really nice, some rust here and there but overall its a super nice start!

  15. Chris,
Sounds like it will be another cool build by you so I am signed up to watch it all as it goes along. Plus I will check it out next year when we make it out to Bonneville with the bones boys.

Got the car back from the sandblasters. It cleaned up really well.

I also got a back lower panel from a 34' 4 door from my buddy. I'll use this for that lower bead above the gas tank cover. Should save me a ton of fabrication time.

I'm loving the body modifications you've got planned for this. A lot of work for some minor details that will get people scratching their heads.

    Cool build.

If its not staying RHD save all the steering parts, particularly box etc - plenty Aussies will be keen on them, including me 3 months ago :(

That's the second UK car I've seen on here today, did one person bring in a few or just individuals?

That sure is one nice looking body to be starting with - and you say it came from England!!! Wow!!! The cars over here (living here at the moment) just melt from all the salt they put on the roads. To find one that is intact is unheard of.
Looking forward to watching this one.
    Cheers.

  22. I LOVED your deuce tudor build and look forward to following this build.

It's off to a great start.

The plans you have to alter the body to make it more like a '33 sound cool. I think the back of a '33 is much more pleasing to the eye than the slab that the '34 is.

Are you going to retain a functioning trunk?

I got working on fitting the rear sedan panel to the vicky. Lots of careful trimming but its getting close to fitting.

I got the back panel in place where it needs to go, and cleco'd it in place. Then today I've been working on laying out the section that needs to be removed in the top. It took some careful planning but I got it all marked up and started making my cuts.
