Picked up the car from blasting today. Turned out really well. nothing got warped or messed up and it looks so much better just being one colour. 20150923_154504.jpg

  6. She's beautiful!
Wire wheel her to get out any media that's embedded and make sure you use a good 2 component Epoxy primer!
I once went with cheap stuff after blasting a car and it fell off in big sheets!
I had to blast it again and redo all the body work, I was devastated!

I've decided to go with split bones for the car. so this weekend I got to work on them. I bought a old chrome set of model A bones a while ago off a fellow hamber so I'm going to put them to use. They had some real shitty tie rod sleaves welded into them so I cut them off. I bought a set of bungs from Ctaulbert here on the hamb and I must say they are very nice and was real happy. I polished them up on the lathe and welded them in and polished the weld. turned out mint didn't burn the chrome at all. After that I made some brackets for the bottom of the frame for them to bolt to with a tapered bung that I made on the lathe at work.

20151018_154625.jpg 20151018_134731.jpg 20150925_184131.jpg Got some more work done on the old terd.
I have been collecting all the front end parts for this car for some time. The stuff I had in it at the beginning of the post was just for mock up. Piece by pain staking Piece I have collected everything for the front end in old chrome. It was a chore. Since getting things chromed was not in my budget and not the look I wanted finding parts that have been chromed and that show their age was the best solution.

The first thing I did was reverse the eyes on the old chrome spring I got. for that I used the press. some guys build a fancy jig for this but I just press mine into the opening in the press it's ast easy and free.

after that I mocked it all uposts

I bought a press like that recently. I hadn't thought of re-arching springs.... Hmmmm. Thanks for showing the pic. Like the old chrome.

Got the motor back in the car this weekend and got going on the exhaust. I bought this cool old set of headers at a swap meet last year so I'm going to put them to use. Somewhere along the way some bone head decided to do the old bash the tube in thing so I started by fixing that. 2015-11-08 16.07.59.jpg 2015-11-08 15.58.37.jpg Im going to use a 36 drive shaft cut in half for the rest of my pipes. Not very original I know but I've always liked it. 2015-11-08 15.59.18.jpg 2015-11-08 16.00.03.jpg 2015-11-08 16.02.15.jpg All I had to do was put in a flange make a couple hangers and get them lined up. pretty simple shit all in all. 2015-11-08 16.02.44.jpg 2015-11-08 16.01.23.jpg

to fix the beat up tube on the header I just cut out the damage and welded a patch in from another pice of exhaust pipe. took like half an hour it was pretty strait forward.

    thanks Brad

Geez this is nice work. I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while, so its good to see someone has actually gone ahead and done it, and such a nice job as well.

Got to work on the rear shocks this weekend. I am going to make a compromise on this car and use tube shocks on the rear. This is not something I wanted to do but lever shocks are so expensive and such a pain in the ass I decided to cheat on this one.

For the top shock mounts I used an old headlight bar mounting pad and welded a thick wall tube to it with a threaded insert in the middle. the lower mounts are just a bolt on unit I got here on the hamb.

all in all turned out pretty good.

This weekend I worked on the hot rod quite a bit.

Like the front end I'm trying to do the rear end in all old chrome. The only problem I'm having with that is I can't find a old chrome torque tube. So I had to fake one.

I have 15hrs into sanding and polishing this one lol. From 60 grit to 1200 grit.

After that I preped my axle bells by changing the spring bushings and bearing races and seals.

    Glad that is over with lol 2015-11-29 22.40.47.jpg 2015-11-29 22.41.18.jpg 2015-11-29 22.41.41.jpg
