My nephew came out for a couple weeks. Put him to work on the roadster. Two coats of turpentine and linseed oil on the cowl wood

  14. The thing about leading for those that haven't done it is the amount of time getting the metal spotless for tinning and then tinning. Heck the actual leading part goes pretty fast after the prep work. Nice job !

I’m using a 1/2, to get a little more penetration. The turpentine is going to evaporate anyway.

Now that I look at it...it’s kind of a push me pull me thing. I’m running two 34 projects parallel...but the roadster is getting more love right now.

I was able to get another pair of roadster doors from a fellow H.A.M.B.’r for a reasonable price considering... I’m going to do the metal repairs and make some wood for them.

This is what a REAL body man does. I have been doing repairs like this for 65 years and the hardest thing i learned was to run legal overhead in door jams. I served a apprenticeship for a body man named Russ who repaired cars during the Great Depression and WWII.
I really congratulate on your craftsman ship. You are a true body man not a technician. I am enjoying your build.

There were no diagonal braces included with the doors. I made a die and banged out a set

  27. Keeps getting better.

When I bought my 2nd 34 roadster (the one I have now) the original wood being in such nice shape was one of the things that pushed me to pull the trigger

Where is this car? Who owns this outstanding, best example ever of a model 40 roadster ever? I've loved model 40's since before being born and find them without doubt the best designed car of all ages, and this one tops the list of all I have ever witnessed in my (8+) decades.
