  1. Very nice work. Keep the pics coming please as they will be very helpful when (if I ever?) get started on my phaeton!

Finished up the wood for both sets of doors. Still need to do all the screws, final sanding and I think I will stain them. That will all wait until after the rest of the metal work.

Looks great! Can you make an error, break something, or have to do something twice; so we all can feel better. That’s how most of our projects go...the wood work is looking great! What was the production numbers for those roadsters?

Low production for sure. That’s cool.

Did you get lucky enough to make a stop at the GNRS or Turlock swap meet on your trip?

I did, didn’t find anything I needed. I did get a super nice steering box, column and wheel off Craig’s list in Tracy on the way back.

Spent the last day and a half drilling 34 holes (8 threaded) in the b-pillar brackets. I am using reproduction castings from Flathead Ted in New Zealand. It would have been a few hours quicker... but I broke a tap of and spent a couple hours chipping it out.

Amazing! The ability to find the parts and then assemble it!

  18. Are the hole locations marked on those and just not drilled?

No, I was lucky to have a loaner pair of originals to map the holes. They were from a channeled car had been hacked up. That combined with The drawings Ed Solari sent me a while back were immensely helpful. Most of the info from Ed is available on the following webpage.

Worked on repairing the original drivers door. About 2 inches between the hinges and several inches in the bottom front area are like lace. I replaced the metal between the hinges and the bottom half of the edge tin. There were also about 20 pin holes that I was able to weld up.

Worked on the “new” drivers door. Received the door edge tins from McPhearson Auto. Steve and his team did a great job on these. [IMG]

There was a bit of fitting and trimming of the edges to set them up for the wooden structure and latch.[IMG]

Should be able to install the screws tomorrow[IMG]

That door is impressive, a difficult mix of metalwork and cabinetry?! Well done.

Here is how the wooden structure is attached to the skin on the bottom. There is a 28 1/2 inch X 2 inch metal strip screwed from behind
