Hot Rods 1934 Ford Glass Body - Running board Height vs. Tire size

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by goleafsgo_12, May 12, 2019.

  1. Hey guys, looking for some opinions on running baord height and tire size. The current tire diameter is 25.5 (Mock up tires) on the front + rear

Running board height is 7.5-8" consistently.

What are people aiming for on a reasonable ride height/ without driveability issues to get the car sitting lower in a nicer stance?

Tire size recommendations? Typical suspension travel front and rear?

Having owned two and built probably a dozen model 40's, here's what works for me. About 2-2.5" of upward travel on the front and 3" on the rear. Looking at what you have, I'd say you are pretty close. Front tire size, 22"to 24", rears 29" to 30".

  3. Thanks Weedburner40. Splitting those numbers, if I go 23 in the front I'd lower by 1.25 and 29 in the rear by 1.75. Putting the running boards at about 6.25" from the road. Sound about right? Excluding any fine tuning on the adjusters +-
