Well I purchased this 34 back in December since then I've made some head way. Concidering I had my left shoulder operated on for rotary cup repair during that time. The car came out of MI. It had a IFS and parrell leafs. Sold the IFS to a guy in WY and the P&J parrell leafs to a guy in WV. Plans are for a 5" chop and lay the A pillar back. Full hood and sides , no fenders. ...Dan

I like your plan. Kinda looks like you are restoring a state-of-the -art street rod into its' former glory to reach its' full potential!

Here are some more pics Dropped 4" axle with 39 Lincoln brakes and hairpins. Was thinking of using 48 ford wish bones but not sure if they would interfere with the tie rod. Was also going to tuck them under like they weren't split ....Dan

  11. Like the others have said; Sure a nice body on it and the frame, too, other than the front end but you are well on the way of making it right.

I had pulled the Mopar rear out of it and put in a Chevy 10 bolt 67. After I had welded in the 10 bolt with the parrell leafs I turned around and installed 42" ladder bars with P&J brackets and took out the leafs with the idea of running a Model A spring. Marked the frame for the center line of the axle so I new right where it would line up with the body on. Next come all the BS of figuring out how to set up the Model A rear crossmember to get it 5 1/2" lower. Thanks much to Curbspeeds build thread I had come to what I thought I needed to do. So I cut the Model A crossmember and proceded to tack it in.

Only to find out I needed to get the crossmember higher in order to get the frame lower with the Model A spring set out at 46".

What I did next was set the spring up in the crossmember and procede to cut on the 34 two remaining crossmember pieces and this is what I got. The only reason I am doing this is for when I find a Quickchange further down the road...Dan

I placed the body back on to see what kind of ride height I would be at. The frame will have to be notched and the way I set the spring up I can gain another inch if needed.

While I had the body on I cut and kicked the rear frame horns up. Everything has to be finished welded and boxed after I flip the frame over, but its getting there...Dan

The car looks great!! You have done some really nice work on the frame.

By the way the 40 Ford in my avater is in Fredrick, Md. now. Maybe you have seen it? I built a 39 Ford Deluxe to replace it.

Tryed to find this in tech but wasn't there. I have to notch the frame on the 34. Can I safely go for a 2 1/2" C notch or should I go for a square notch. The frame is 4" where I am doing this. Made some c notch out of 1/4" x 2" plate. So it will be 2 1/2 at heightest point and 6" long. Who has done this be for. Dan

Rechecked my alignment before I went and started cutting the frame for the c notch. No room for error.

Braced where the cut was going to be on both sides before doing anything

Once I get everything all welded up I am going to have to figure how to put some type of fish plate to strengthen that area up. That will be a major stress point....Dan
