No cure - none desired. The coupe with the more purple highlights was owned for years by Gil Lucero of Vista, CA. This very cool steel car, was featured in a mag, at least once in the 90s. Last time I saw it was an Orange County Cruise. Pic from LA Roadster Show, roughly '92.

Here are some pics of my coupe, previously described but no pics. Jim Kirby says he built it roughly #13 or 14. with Revelle Mustang being #25 or so. Steel body, 4" chop, on a rectangular tube chassis, with ladder bar 8 3/4 Chrysler rear. I believe it to be Kirby glass removable front group (3 piece w tubing framework, widened fenders, and signature one-piece deck lid. Currently running 396, transbrake Glide. After this car lived in Memphis area, it moved to Texas, where Vic Custer changed front end to Mustang II. Car hooks hard, goes straight, and will recover from driver error.

Looks a bit of a hack job to me - been around the block and needs a fair bit of work and plenty of fiberglass parts. I'll be watching with interest to see what it does before putting my 1936 rumble seat coupe up for sale. Should have it ready as a roller in a couple of weeks or so....

"a bit of a hack" - well really what un-restored ex-Gasser is not a hack to those of us with a "restorer's mindset". The thing that bothers me is that it has made it to 17G's & the reserve has NOT been met... wow if a cut-up/Gasser roller fetches this kind of money.... Not really any worse than a "botched & incomplete" 'restoration' going for 50K+..... I guess.

I posted some pix earlier in this thread but since you ask - all original steel 1936 rumble seat De Luxe coupe, no patch panels ever, no rust ever, no bondo ever, all original floors solid as a rock. rear fenders widened 3" in steel, running boards pie cut to match, cutouts for fenderwell headers - all wood rock solid - replaced where necessary. PM me if interested guys....

Roof still has cloth insert. It has the bumpers and I have a complete and really nice original steel 1933 front clip including grille if that's the way someone wanted to go - and a 1933/35 dash and swing out windshield hinges too - all the impossible to find parts. NO the 1933 clip is NOT for sale separately - please do not ask....

One of my favorite Model 77s ever. Sorry for the schmutz on the pic. Built, as I remember, by Harry Phillips at Willys Unlimited. This photo from the Willys Home Run sent to me by Bob Sarkisian. At one time owned by Joe Kovi. Where is this one now? Any other 33 woodies?

The last time I was at the Western Nats was 2009, I remember seeing your car then and in years previous. Willys always catch my eye because Dad had a '36 coupe in the garage when I was growing up. His Grandpa bought it new and passed it to Dad arond '65. Dad told me it used to have a SBC in it but my earliest memories of it are with a Jeep flat 4 on the original transmission. The story as I remember it is the starter went out and he got a great deal on a Pinto 2300/C4 combo so that went in the car. He sold the car in '86 and I've often wondered about it since.

Just heard on our Forum.."Ron Normann ( he now owns Bee Line Willys, and Jack Merkel's 39 B/GS Willys).Over the weekend he made the long haul from Illinois to Long Island to purchase Jack Merkel's (restored) glass 33 Willys AA/GS circa 67 to 69"
....While I'm here...does anybody know what happened to John Lopiano's '33 ...ran out of Stamford,Ct. ?

Great find Dave. That's awesome you got it back after so many years. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

I remember that cartoon too! Funny.

Kinda reminds me of the rodder who bought a Willys coupe and said, "I'm gonna build it stock - a blown Hemi and a Hydrostick."

It looks like Lee Kay and I are converting this old sedan into a 33 coupe.

Very ambitious project. Good luck - post pics.

Have you thought about trying to do a 3-window? Maybe stretch out the door opening a bit for longer doors?

I wonder what that would look like? Now you have me thinking. So you're saying get rid of the rear small window and make the front doors a little wider?

Paul's Willys (33Hemi) IS awesome. It's the original Mike Mitchell hippie car. Check out this little video I found a while back.
