Heres one I did a while back, it normally has a 1pc hood top on it. Blown BBC, 700R4, 9" ford rear, 4" drop heavy axle, the top was LaBaron

    Hmmmm,.. BBC+8-71 blower,...You have 1100kg moonrocket !
I have 409cid (425hp) in my 5w coupe and that is rather fast (high 11sec - low 12sec quarter mile), I suppose Your car can go high 10s. Lebaron top looks good and their quality is good. I have sold some their roadster tops and install one.

    Looks good.

This was 1st time I bought ready running 1932 ford (this cabriolet). I supposed that 90-95% of all is OK, because car was much more expensive than Project Deuces.

    Now have rebuilt:
-front brakes, rear brakes. All parts were OK, but many problems with installation, adjust, and clearances
-valvesprings have been wrong ones. Coil blind touched all springs
    -cam bearings wrong installed
-intake gasket leaks , wrong installed
-too much fuel pressure, +9psi (electr pump + regulator)
-heads are nice (outlook) but those are installed wrong angle when grinded deckside -> one headbolt, in both head, go thru chamber! Now its very big job to save heads, try to made those useful (workable)
-too small head gaskets (bore), both gaskets were leak from many places,..
-too small clearance between pistons and heads. 3 piston touch heads
-I changed all valvelocks, retainers (damaged) and of course valve springs. Old springs were so tight that didn´t get valvequide "C-locks" out. I was need to remove first valve locks to get more free space to remove C-locks.
I wonder how somebody has put all on their places!

still needs to make new electrics, change fuel line and pump to mechanic,....

If somebody is use time + money to built hot rod (very much resources), I wonder, why too much junk result or done careless even dangerous (brakes).

I do not expect that all are made "excelent", OK result is what I expected this car too, but .....

    Now 21stud Flathead works fine.

-Heads: 2-3days measuring, machinery jobs. Headbolts not go anymore thru chambers.
-last cam bearing was installed wrong. I turned it and now fuel pump rod is going its Place.
-didn´t have enough long fuel pump rod, so made it. Maybe these old PM7 Thicksun intakes need extra long fuel pump rod, longer than found from cataloques.
-Installed Howard 363 cam. and new Isky springs, c-lips, retainers and 7dec locks. Not anymore "coil blinds".
-Im using 50s Champion LA 11 and LA 15 spark plugs (side Electron).
-Changed straight lower radiator hoses to my own production S-curve hoses. Same time droped engine down 1/4" and still little too high (front), but not want to change original engine stands.
-During winter I and my son Oscar have done new door and patch panels.
-I removed Facet Gold Flo fuel pump , holley regulator and fuel lines. Found one old mechanical pump which I pieced and polished. Works good and looks more old style.
-New 94 cabs I opened and changed Idle mix needles and power valves.
-There was 35-36dec advanced ignition, I do not know why, but now i use +20dec.

I take test drive and works good. Still need to make small adjustings (advance, carbs) but mainly all works good.
Now brakes also feel good and balance was ok.

maybe now but Steve built that car locally to me in western mass. He's responsible for my hot rod addiction indirectly. my uncle worked at his shop and I still remember my first ride in his olds powered 32 roadster when I was 2-3 years old. I bought my cut down 32 5 window because I loved steve's cabriolet..... I still have unclean dreams about that car!

1932 Cab is now registered. I bolted on rear fenders and homemade front fenders for registeration inspection.
All accepted and engine works good after rebuilding.

I bolted on before winter new 94 carbs, but now I have rebuilt original 30s Ford carbs and changed those.
I think its so easy adjust those original carbs (powervalves,.....). Finland Lic.plates are ready, but not want to bolt out those original CAL 1932 licplates,...

Tomorrow I pick up new carpet from postoffice and install it on the floor.
Also need to bolt out fenders

Here last pictures took today using Canon system camera. Normally I use small sony pocket camera, but I can see difference. Car is ready and want to leave it like it is, Patin hot rod.

Ready for summer and maybe something small installations like SW curved lence RPM gauge to the steering column,....but mostly driving, hard use. Tranny and engine need to lift out and look where trannyoil comes out. Can also change it to 1939 ford syncro tranny.

Photographer Miikka Antrell (Finland) took this picture 2weeks ago in Forssa Pick Nick meeting.
I have to drop it also here, because I really like this pic,......

nb. +4000miles behind and cab. runs very strong. 3days ago I tested near my home town and top speed on the highway. Top speed little over 100mph. Pedal was not pushed all down, but I think rest is not giving more speed.

One lifter adjust.nut was broken 2weeks ago, when I was on the way home.
I drove rest 120miles slowly. Next day opened engine and let out sign of relief,.... it was only lifter problem.

Next winter need to change piston rings. Engine not smoke, but likes too much oil. Cylinders are very good, I can say nearly 100% condition.

160 mph? That would be good for a serious HP SBC. Maybe kilometers. That would be 105 mph, still a feat for a flathead.

    Sorry boys, 100mph,....
I took one green pill too much at morning,.....

maybe something 170kmh because my speedo shows little less than actual speed.
    now changed 160mph to 100mph.

Thanks HASTY. This winter need to finnish many "semi ready" things.

Just now I built 21bolt flathead to Kokemaki (town in Finland) firestation´s first firetruck (1937 ford).
Same time I need to get ready my Italmeccanica -blower flathead. All machinery jobs I have done over one year ago and all parts are ready,...

Next month I chop top (1934 5w coupe) and need to put together one 1932 frame (new asc rails, 1932 orig. othe stuff) and sell that frame. Also need to built quick change rear end and sell that too,... I have never try to collect stuff, but now I feel that I have lost controll last years and too much stuff w/o use. Need to change those to current money,...

Rest winter need to fix own cars. Cabriolet engine need new piston rings, driveshaft tube needs seal. Now oil is falling from rear to tranny, Coupe need little maintenance, Panel delivery needs McCulloch supercharger and new ring and pinion,.....

Sorry, I have done nothing with my Cabriolet (not even drive). 3Flathead engines are "under construction" and first of all Im just welding flathead oilpan Project. Today get welded and start to increase putty 4-5mm on it.
When sanded ready, need to leave oilpan to "aluminum castman" who is start to make me those pans.

I just bought a 31 slant window cabriolet that I didn't really know how rare they are with intentions to chop the windshield a couple inches and run it topless because the top is in bad shape and they cost a fortune to correctly restore. I wanted a roadster but haven't found anybody willing to trade one for my Cabby so I'm either going to have my way with it or I've got a guy wanting to trade me a 5 window coupe. Decisions decisions! Here's a pic of mine ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1441807602.747107.jpg

Nice A cab. Looks like rather easy Project, not too much rust. Even patch panels looks good.
