They are really never done. I think I will have a list of things to do on the car forever. It looks like it is finished so I thought I would share some pictures. As some of you will remember, the paint is Hot Rod Flatz. I just couldn't leave it alone so I started to buff it just to see what would happen. It got pretty shinny. It kind of looks like old Lacquer that has been buffed out. I like it. The car drives really well. We are planning on many trips this summer. Well, on to the next project.

Mike, the height of simplicity, that's what makes it so damn good lookin. What a clever idea of rubbing out your flat to a soft shine.........kool beans.

Slick and it has that just right look to it. I'm going to have to save a few photos for inspiration in the next couple of years.

Thanks everyone. I know most on this board "Get It" when it comes to this style of car. Here are some shots of it the day my wife and I picked it up in Texas.

Great to here from ya. You better not be looking at the HAMB at work. It never happens in Tucson ( Especially at Station 18). I still have a '56 and '57 rag top bug to get to some day. The next project, besides the house , is this.

The seats are very heavily modified '56 bug seats on Mustang tracks. I would never do that again. I bought the Mohair from Labaron Bonney. Two local upholsters worked on it. I made the panels and they covered them.

That is one sweet Sedan congrats. On the motor did you use the road vent tube or plumb in a pcv?

I used a PCV. The engine is a crate engine I bought my wife for her birthday two years ago ( Not really) It's a running joke between us. I drilled a hole on the inside of the right valve cover to install the PCV. I really didn't want to cut those, but it was the only way I knew to let the engine breath properly.

  25. Beautiful job Mike. Clean, simple, perfect stance. It's a pleasure seeing a car on which I wouldn't change a thing. It's interesting to read that you're also an old VW guy. Could that be part of the inspiration? A couple guys I know that were into VWs graduated to clean, simple, straightforward hot rods. I'd like to know a little more about how you handled the paint... Is that the same paint that's in the jambs? Did you color sand before buffing? I REALLY like how it came out... Again, congrats. Great job.
