ze fenders are too nice! keep them on!
I'm not sure really where the fender debate started but...they are off...and not going back on
Sorry to disappoint.
Haha! It started with that full-Fendered badass photochop you posted!
Oh and in case you haven't noticed, we are happy to offer our opinions whether you want them or not.
OK OK. But try to leave the hood top.
I agree, big chop ditch the fenders. Small chop keep the fenders!
Lol, funny thing about opinions eh! everybodys got one...What I really NEED is time, this whole xmas thing is cutting into my garage time. I was hoping this weekend to get more done but now....I dunno.
Was considering keeping the hood though, with 2 velocity stacks sticking right thru the middle.
So I tried a diy project, make your own whitewalls. Well not make em really more like uncover em, its interesting that most whitewalls today still have about a 2" wide strip despite it being only a 3/4" strip visible. Just apply a 4" grinder and voila.
Just need to clean them up a bit. 1/2 hour invested.
I'd dump the fenders too...fenders look cool on chopped sedans...not so much on a coupe, IMO
I think its cool enough to NOT be an old Ford...whatever it is, it's unique becuz it ain't Henry's...yeah, my fave car is a 30 Ford 5W, but this thing is badass
dig your feelings on not having enough garage time...I've had too much, but not doing what I want! Loose the hood top too....
Yah there are definitely a lot of fords, Henry had a good design, googled it there was only 47,000 olds made. Figure I'm pretty lucky to have found this one, I was happy with it when it was a Chevy, even better to find out its and Olds.
I also have a 31 Olds and I assure you it is the same car. Are you interested in selling the running boards? I may want a fendered car.
Some of my pics Still working on it.
ps Thats a early Olds 455 engine It should get me where I wamt to go pretty quick.
Put the original visor back on it so everyone will know it is not a Ford.
I like your engine choice and the car looks nice. It will be very quick. I was one that said keep the fenders but it looks good. Nice work.
Everyones got an opinion true but only your gonna drive it! It will be bitch'n however it gets done.
That is a nice Oldsmobile, yah I' ll likely end up with a set of running boards for sale, not in great shape though and shipping would be a problem figure we are couple of thousand miles appart.
Well some progress over the Holidays, lots of time invested little progress, funny how that works. Anyways still mostly demo, out with the old!
So I have a straight steering column now but with the z frame that geometry is going to change what are you guys doing? I was thinking of cutting outer casing, cutting inner shaft and putting in a u joint?
Frame went into sandblaster yesterday to get cleaned up, 50 years in some field will do that to you. Also undertook some metallurgy today..I suck...trying to craft this
to repair this.
I got the idea that all this was possible from posts on here, who knows with another couple of hours invested maybe it will look alright? Or I'll try something else.
That's looking good! A little planishing and she'll come up a treat!
Will see...I'm hoping I can smooth it out quite a bit yet.
I think I'm getting better. 10 more and maybe it will be perfect.
It's a lot harder than I thought it would be to get it to look right. I want to try to get some of the body work done while the frame is gone and I have the extra space but 2 full nights and all I have is 2 small panels that I'm not to thrilled about.
Well installed the new patch panels today, have to say it worket out pretty good, still some tweaking required but voila!
I just have a little crown to get out of the pannel??? Overheated from welding!
So task at hand today, section frame. With it being 6 Deep it seemed like that would be the easiest amount to z the frame.
Spent a lot of time making sure it would remain square after it was cut...to my surprise it worked...
Thats a really good idea! I never thought of doing it like that. Keep the pics posted. Its coming out great
Looking good, looks like she'll ride nice n low!
Just found this thread, looks a cool build, good luck and i look forward to seeing it progress.
Awesome build, nice progress so far. Keep up the great work!
