I picked up this body for a '34 Chevy Panel. It has no frame. So now I'm hunting for an original frame. Any idea what frames will interchange? '34-'35 Chevy Pickups?? Pasenger cars? Thanks
I'm pretty sure the Panels used the same chassis/frames as the trucks. I'm not sure whether the different years are interchangable or not, however.
1934-35 half ton truck models DB and EB (assuming it's a panel truck, not a sedan delivery) the frame assembly is part number 373162, and cost $43 at your local Chevy dealer in 1946....in case you were interested....
Yep, its a panel delivery. Were DB and EB the only truck models in 1934-35? Do you know if the sheet metal (fenders, hood, etc) for the pickup interchange?
I have a 1946 chevy parts book, like this one. P and Q models were 1-1/2 ton in 34-35. 34-36 hoods are the same, although the 36 has different louvers. 1/2 ton and 1-1/2 ton interchange. 34-35 fenders for 1/2 and 1-1/2 ton are the same. 34-36 fender supports and extension skirts for 1/2 and 1-1/2 ton are the same 34-36 1/2 ton running boards are the same
Hey Reggie, there was a old guy out near Trawick(sp?) north of Nacogdoches(sp?) that I got some parts for my 39 truck from. I have been looking for his info since I first read this post. He had nothing but late '20 to early 40's Chevy & GMC trucks. I think it was like 30 or 40 trucks and panels. This was 7-8 years ago but I will see what I can find out for you. James
Mark, that's the guy you keep telling me about....need to see if he's got any special cars for me....TX, here i come if so!
Reggie, if you don't turn anything up fairly easily, I can introduce you to a fella. I don't think he has anything quite that early, but he still has the frame that was under my 38. Here's a web site that might help with parts and evolution... good history lesson in the front of the early model catalog. http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cgi/htmlos.exe/start.htm
I think I have rear fenders for one of those. You probably should want to look for some more local though.
One of those years at least there are two styles of cab on the trucks, one uses the older doors which are more square at the top and have different shaped windows in them. We moved a '36-ish big truck today and had to set aside a pair of doors my buddy had gotten for it - they were the wrong ones, but the truck mainly needs hinges, he figured those should be the same.
