Looking at getting this off a buddy of mine....it's a Chevy but not sure about the year or where to get parts...any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
1934 but can't tell whether a Master or Standard. Picture of dash would help. Shot of a 34 Master under construction, note shape of rear window and how body lines blend at rear of 1/4 panel. (poor picture)
Looks like a 33 based on body lines on cowl. Parts for pre'35 .............very scarce. The Filling Station will have a few items. As the owner and builder of a'32 Chevy, be prepared to put forth a tremendous amount of time, and test your fabricating skills ! There is a reason few early Chevy hot rods exist ..................
I'd agree it's a 33 buy the cowl/hood line. I would say it's a Master because I don't think they made 5 window standard models. You can get fiberglass fenders for it. Here's what it could look like.
Car is a 33 master coupe . The inset in the fire wall is about 2 inches deep on a master and 4 inches deep on a standard. The cowl vent on a 34 opens towards the windshield and a 33 opens towarfd the radiator . Only 33 body parts will fit a 33 .Fenders , front and rear , rad shell and hood are all different from a 34 . Part are very hard to find especially more so for a 33.They are getting pricey now too.
ford guy, but the '33 had a long cowl, front to back, shorter hood, '34 and 1/2 of '35 had a much shorter cowl, longer hood... buddy says chebby and pontiac were very similar...buicks were similar too...[beltlines ?].
Most importantly be sure the rocker are with the car !!! They are not reproduced . Very difficult to make due to several compound curves . Very expensive to buy , if you can find a set or even one.
What about decklids? Are they all different? It's missing that. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'm thinking. Deep channeled hot rod. No hood or fenders. And probably no chop. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The cool thing is when you go to a cruise night everyone else has a ford and you're the only one with a Chevy there.
33 34 decklids are the same .They are all steel for a master car . Standard cars are metal wrapped around a wood frame .Both are difficult to find. You will need the all metal master lid for your car.
yes it is a 33. i have a 3w.... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/33-chevy-3w-time-for-a-cool-change.863287/
A buddy has a Chevy 33 two door sedan he is building 4 years and counting. He can tell you how hard 33 body parts are to find.. so he adapted and overcame, he took Lazze's Metal Class and is or has made most of what he needs with some damn fine results.
II have a 33 3 window as well , sold my 34 5 window last year . the 34 was easier to find parts for, although still tough .
So the body is missing the decklid, no dash, no latches or window regulators (any advice on latches and window regulators?). There's no good or fenders. But not really concerned since I think I'm going to build a fenderless hotrod. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
with a heavy channel you probably don't need a working deck lid. just make sure the seats fold forward.
Looks to be a Master body, this is a Standard firewall with deep recess rather than a shallow recess. Nothing interchanges between Standard and Master bodies to my knowledge; fenders, grill shell, hood, doors, trunk or side curtains; Master has longer running boards than Standard; and Standards have single centre mounted instrument cluster, Masters have instruments in front of driver with glove box in front of passenger
^^ Thanks, I was of the view that 33-35 were almost the same bar a few small differences. I'll remember that.
/\ Least of worries. Steel Inner structure for body will require all of your attention. Door frames ............ oh my ! Multiple compound curves !
No garnishes need those as well. I was thinking using of using aftermarket latches at least. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
