Spent some time getting the basement shop going and I am about 90% with the drivers side.

  3. Man, what a transformation!!

  4. Nice setup in the basement and the metal work looks awesome per usual.

I like the idea you had for raising the car up, i may borrow that for my Plymouth coupe.

This was a fun quick one. My first time using pullmax edge setting dies after hand tipping a flange... What a difference they make in the crispness of corners.

  6. Looks great!

Did you run that thru free hand thru the dies following a layout line?

Every time I try it that way the panel bounces so much I can't see the line. It's like the 1/16" line looks like its 1/2" wide.

Recently here I saw a Video where the guy made a guide and used clecos to hold it on the 1/4 panel to run it thru.

Now my machine isn't a pullmax but a bachofen Meyer, its supposed to be smoother running than a pull max. I'm wondering if its me, the dies, or the machine,

The key is I did 95% of the work on the flange first and only used my Pullmax (it's not a real Pullmax, I just built one like one) to crispen the edges. No machine will ever shrink and stretch the material for flanges as it goes.

You need a guide for beading operations. I did the same thing with clecos when I recently beaded a 34 quarter. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1426878305.660171.jpg

  8. Thanks,
I guess I'll revisit my machine with a guide and see what happens.
I got so aggravated by the results and metal action I buried it behind stuff again. :) I think my hands have recovered lol

Mostly got it in. I'll metal finish it a bit better the next time the motors out. I can't get my arm back there with a dolly currently.

All done with the drivers side. Just that last 10% I'll button up when it's paint time. Spinning the car around and I'll start working the passenger side next

Had a chance to push it outside and look at it from more than 5' away. I think it needs a chop personally but my stepdad wants the headroom. Either way it's way more solid than it was.

That is truly a silk purse from a sow's ear. Really first class craftsmanship.

Looks damn good, I agree it would look good with a chopped top but I wouldn't go more than maybe 2"-3"

  28. Nice work Steve. Once the weather gets better I'll have to drive my 33 down there to check it out.
