I'm 99% done with the slave cylinder. I'm using a Ford 57-60 pickup slave. I had to make an adapter to the bell housing. You might wonder why I didn't just use a Chevy pickup bell housing, the answer is I already had this stuff.

When I bought my Bronco axle I had to cut off a bunch of 4x4 scab-welded steel, fortunately I kept the steel and used it for this bracket

    Here it is bolted on

I added a little spring and all the other hardware

I'm running out of these little one-day projects. Next big thing will be the cab and bed.

    Small update

Made a dipstick tube. Yet another thing one year only, a 3/8" diameter dipstick tube. Chrome one doesn't fit, mine does

Here's how it looks today. I'm going to make some side panels for the bed to cover the frame and fuel tank

Still working on my bed side panels, but managed to get some small stuff done.

My signature work, excessively complex thing which is used for simple thing, in this case my license plate frame
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1387598461.804624.jpg

The bracket is made from a hacked up Model A body mount bracket

I got my 37 Ford tail lights, now for brackets. I have a bunch of original 'A' parts I took off the truck, some of them look pretty cool, so I try to reuse them when I can. In this case I'll use pieces of mechanical brake linkage and the two foot pedals for the light mounts. Hopefully will be done tomorrow

    Thanks Josh.

I hurt my back pretty bad Saturday morning, so today was the first day back on the project.

I finished the tail light mounts. I think they turned out ok, I'll throw the bed on the frame tomorrow to see how they look horizontal

Other than that I've just been grinding away on the bed, trying to get it ready for filler.

I will hopefully be done with the metal work on the bed by Friday! Then it's on to the cab.

Build looks great!! I'm sitting on my ass in Guam for Uncle Sam (holiday). Just read the whole thread in one sitting..

Excellent craftsmanship! I love that you've built it to be a functional truck.

Impressive job...just finished reading all 13 pages. With the great proportions you have so far, I'm thinking less chop...say 3". just my 2 cents.

I hear you. I have in my head what I want it to look like, but I always worry it'll be too much. I've thought about it for a year or so and believe 5" is right (as arbitrary as it is).

    Here's a 4" chop
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1388598695.718665.jpg

5" to 6" depending on my scaling method
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1388598716.332618.jpg

    6"
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1388598737.456175.jpg

They all look great though. The 6" might be a bit much but only because mine is channelled and I wouldn't fit.

How come nobody told me nothing would line up after you chop it? :D

Looking good! Your solid work ethic has inspired me to get back on rebuilding my banjo rear. It's still taking forever because I also have OCD.

Thanks guys. The metal work is taking forever. My goal is (was) to have the cab ready for bondo by the end of next week, but it ain't happening!

I do like having half a truck though!

Ok, small update. This chop and the roof wood are taking a long time, but I'm chipping away at it.

No updates. Seems like I'm always traveling during the first quarter of the year. I haven't really done anything since mid-January.

I did get some factory drip rails, and everything I need to put the wood kit together. Also, the doors are aligned and open and close properly.

I'll try to make it out there once all this snow melts.

Not much going on, other than dropping my cab and all its parts off for blasting. I definitely did this backwards. Oh well.

If you're in the Portland/Vancouver area and need blasting done I recommend Blast Off; Mitch is a fellow hot rodder, and a nice guy to do business with.

  29. I love these builds-a guy in his own garage hammering out the entire car by himself. And doing a very nice job to say the least. Cheers.
