Start with 4" then if you think it needs more you can still cut it again. It already looks awesome with no chop. I bet even a 3" chop would look really good but hey its your build haha

Have someone on the photoshop thread photochop it. Take strips of 1" masking tape, spaced 1" between placed up the front of the A pillar and along the side behind the door window. You can use those for reference when you photochop it. Me and a couple of friends did this on a '35 International pickup and it worked great. This way you can take a pic from the front and side to see what looks go to you and know exactly how much you chopped it in the pic. Maybe even do one from the rear too. You could even do this with printed pics too.

I love the way the truck looks. Keep in mind that channeled PU cab get tight fast when you cut the roof. Pic of my '31 with a 3" chop. IMG_5957.jpg

Small update, not pic heavy. Progress has slowed to what feels like a snail's pace. I did a ton of work to the bed, lots of rust repair, built a subframe for it also.

Finally bent my headlight stands and bolted them to the frame. The passenger side one looks a little low still.

Spent time figuring out my front shock mounts, will probably work on that this week.

Rest of the time I spent on carburetors. I modified my end carbs by plugging the idle circuits and vacuum ports for the power valves. Cleaned and am in the middle of painting each part before reassembly.

New extended throttle shafts. The steel throttle plates look like they fit tighter than the brass ones, so I'm using them on the outer carbs.

Hard to see in this picture but I tapped the holes for 6-32 threads and installed set screws.
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1366594767.399736.jpg

    That's all for now.

Finished my carbs today, started on the throttle linkage also. This is the first time I've had the intake off, spotless inside. Dude said the engine had been rebuilt recently, it does look that way which is nice.

Got my alternator this past week, going to start in on a bracket to mount it below the front engine crossmember.

Going slow but trying to grind it out.

Well I had a goal (and a plan) to be driving by today. Unfortunately (insert excuses). I'm about 1.5 - 2 months behind. On to the next goal :)

did you double up on the sheet metal thickness where you hung the pedals? or is the seam there just a flat piece grafted in to accommodate them?

    love the truck!

I think I used a piece of 3/16 that was a little bigger than the pedal mounting face. I notched the plate around the firewall beads so the pedals could have a flat surface to mount to. I might brace the firewall on the inside to keep it from flexing in that area.

    Yep, Kalama, WA.

Not sick, not traveling for work, feels good to be back in the saddle and getting shit done!

Got my throttle linkage and choke cable installed

And figured out my alternator. I wanted to hide it under the front engine crossmember. I think it worked out pretty well.

Brake switch. RockAuto says it fits a 55 Chevy. I'm surprised they used this style of switch back then, but I like it.

I worked on lots of little stuff this weekend. Next weekend might be a 4-day for me, so I'm planning to pull the power train and re-gasket the motor (and paint it).

I modified my transmission cover so my right foot has more room.
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1369014542.532822.jpg

Made a reinforcement piece for my throttle pedal.
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1369014573.757264.jpg

Added reinforcement to the strut rods.
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1369014602.418931.jpg

    Braced my steering column mount.
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1369014626.966928.jpg
    ImageUploadedByTJJ1369014636.857230.jpg

And extended my lower shock mounts so the shocks don't hit the spring shackles.

Front shock mounts. I've been holding off on these until I could afford a torch.

This update won't look like much, but it's taken me three days to get this far.

Mounted my fuel tank and fabricated the front bed mounts.

Started on the rear bed mounts
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1369723944.666124.jpg

And picked up some wood for the bed.

    Also leak-tested my fuel tank.
