After a few years of having fun with my 1930 tudor i learned a lot about wat i really want and so it was time to sell my tudor and start a new build.(my Tudor was more a street rod then a traditional hot rod)
I really wanted a open car and so i looked over a few roadsters , i came to the conclusion that i don't fit real well in a Model A roadster and since a 32 is real rare over here and registration is most easy when you start with a original car i also looked into the sport coupe/coupesters.

I know some people don't like the coupester route but it is what i want, it will get a real roadster windscreen and thinned doors so it will be a roadster with longer doors/leg room.
I want to use this ride for a lot of miles so i have to fit good and i want it to be real usable without loosing the "traditional feeling"
It will be a build as much traditional as possible for me and my bank account so sometimes i will cheat with newer parts.
My computer crashed so i lost a lot off pics but i still have some on my phone.

I had a 1940 four door project that i decided to part out and keep the parts i need for my build like the wheels , rear end , brakes , steering wheel etc.

Then i found a real nice running and registered Sport Coupe

After driving it around a little i took off the roof to have the roadster feeling, the roof also leaked like crazy after a little rain.

I found a new french flathead that was bought out off a military depot, it is not period correct but since the 1940 engine i got was real worn out i think this is a good option .

    Nice start.
Guessing "restorer's" will not think to kindly of you making it into a hot rod. What motor/transmisson do you have planned?
Does car get "lifetime" plates assigned when car is registered in Netherlands?

Since i want to use this car a lot and want to get up with traffic i go for the s-10 trans.
After a long search i found a wold class t5 out of a v6 s-10 with the right gear( i think )
Don't mind the shifter , i will change that later on.

I bougt a 1949 dash from ebay to fit in the model A:

    _57_zpsb06d039a.jpg

I want to have the big hole in the center of my steering wheel and the smaller in the middle of the dash and want to keep the glove box to use as a place for the fuse's and electrical stuff so i cut the dash into a lot of pieces to get everything centered the way i want and also to let the dash flow with the lines of the dash rail.

    Mock up:

Trial fit and still a lot of grinding to go:

The original seat was hurting my back after a short ride and was to high so i searched on the Hamb and found out a lot off people use the 2nd row out of a voyager.
Found one and it fits nice , will get traditional upholstery later on.

I did not tell the seller what my plans with the car where ;)
The car will have its original registration with the v8 on it, this is allowed when done well.
I also have to run cycle fenders to get it road legal over here.

  15. Doing a great job so far. Looking forward to updates.

  16. When a car has a valid registration in the Netherlands, it will be there for the rest of it's life and if the car will be sold the registration will change to the new owner and will stay on the car until it is scrapped or exported outside the Netherlands.
Also if changes are made to a vehicle and they are inspected by the RDW (the only authority in Holland that can legally change your papers), your papers will be changed but the registrationnumbers and licence plates will stay the same.

My plan is get the A on the road next year and due the lack off time (and expirience) i decided to let the chassis build by a specialist
Today i got my frame back from Lilypad speedshop:

    IMG_5761_zpse4e8ec6d.jpg

Split 1940 wishbone and brakes and a 4" dropped axle and vega box.
    IMG_5768_zpsab360412.jpg

We needed open drive conversion for the T5 trans and i wanted to use the rear 1940 wishbones so a torque arm was made.

Now it is time for me to get to work ......

Pedals are in and brake and clutch linkage working.
Today it was time to get the body on the frame to see how it sits, the firewall need some work and also the trunk floor for the crossmember that is now more to the rear.
I cut it al out and this is how it sits with the body in place and on its wheels, the tires are just for mock up and 600 front and rear , this will be 525/700 later on so stance will change a litle.
    Happy for now.

  23. I hope you keep that body as it is.. don't fuck it up and cut the windscreen posts and stuff off.. will just ruin it. Sport coupes are cool in their own right.

After lots of thinkin i decided to go coupster.
Doors are thinned and a real roadster windscreen, cowl is reworked so the windscreen fits like a roadster.
I got plenty of room inside ,i like the look of the longer doors and coupe beltline.
Maybe not everybodys taste but i like it , should be ready before summer:

Nice job with the doors. That takes the Coupster look away. If not for the body line I would think roadster all the way.

Haven’t post in a while , car is a driver an registered.
Al lot of changes made already but i’m getting there.
The ugly low exhaust wil go and was just to pass inspection.
A fun little car and with the t5 it drives real smooth.
Gonna pull it apart this winter to paint
