Folks Of Interest 1929 Model A (un)Cannonball Run coast to coast

  1. I think this thread could have some legs.
The older I get, the bigger my bucket list gets.
Maybe we can get some ideas for more road trips here!
    Try this one.
Since I was in college in '72 I have loosely been talking about
"Circulating the whole of the Great Lakes" by just getting as
close as possible to Lake Ontario, the closest one to us,
and then drive West along the lakes and just keep turning right
until you get back to where you started. I've done parts of this
trip many times but never (yet) done the whole route.
I'd like to do it in a '39-'40 Ford sedan, rodded just enough to be
a "late '50s kids hot rod."

  2. A lap of the complete Great Lakes would truly be an awesome undertaking. Having lived a stone's throw from Ontario for a big chunk of time I think it's difficult for folks who have never seen the Great lakes to imagine the sheer vastness of the whole chain. I should point out that Lake Ontario size-wise is on the small end of the spectrum, and it's pretty friggin' huge

Several people from the Wichita Model A club drove the AlCan highway all the way to Alaska years ago. A good Model A will go anywhere but the speed is a limiting factor, with stock gears about 50-55 is comfortable.
