Summer is coming so back up for sale!

’28 Phaeton body of Australian origin, imported from California (bought from Coop via the HAMB) in 2011 and restored. The body sits on top of a ’31 Model A chassis. The phaeton easily seats five and makes a great family rod.

French military flathead V8 with 4” crank, 40,000 miles on military transporter when removed. New Edelbrock ali heads, Offy 2x2 intake with new Stromberg 97s, tube headers. New Mallory distributer with Pertronix Ignitor. Amethyst mappable ignition system hidden under the dash so you can programme your own curve using a laptop. New Powergen gennie. Oil pressure sits at 40lb all day. New water pumps, thermostats fitted, electric fan and new four-core radiator. Engine maintains a steady 80-degrees in all weathers.

The engine is backed by a Volvo Amazon 4-speed transmission using a truck bellhousing. The clutch and bearing are also from an Amazon so spares are easy to come by. Trans has synchro on all four gears and works brilliantly behind the V8, making it a breeze to drive.

Solid body, excellent fuel tank, recent paint, bear-claw latches on doors. '31 side aprons. Interior fully trimmed out (needs rubber mat in rear). Brand new roof on a decent frame fitted this year by Aldridge Trimming (UK) along with rear tonneau cover and hood bag. Looks great with the roof up or down.

Stock Model A front axle fitted with a reversed-eye front spring and split ’40s wishbones. ’46-’48 back-plates with new Lincoln-style drums on the hydraulic brakes. Telescopic shocks also fitted. Steering is late ’31 rebuilt by Nervous Bob.

Model A rear axle fitted with a ‘Kiwi’ quick-change centre section. This is a great piece of kit. This was put together 10 years ago and has been great, behind both my banger and the V8. I’ve got three sets of gears to go with it, each of which give two ratios: 4.11/3.48, 4.33/3.33 (these are currently in the car, set at 3.33), and 3.94/3.6. Ratios can be changed in less than 10 minutes. The axle also has ’46-’48 back-plates with Lincoln drums, a reversed eye spring and new tube shocks. Master cylinder is Mustang dual circuit. Rolling gear is three ’35 wires and one Kelsey Hayes wire with 550-16 Firestones up front and 700-16 at the back, with new caps and rings.

A great looking traditional rod that has run at Pendine and Gow Hillclimb. Chances are you won't park next to another one very often. Price is £20,000 or very nearest offer. No PX, thanks. Obviously this car is in England and the price is in pounds stirling. The £ to $ ratio is favouring you guys at the moment so even with shipping (which you're paying!) it makes this a reasonable price. Last time I checked it was about $1.20-ish to the £, making this around $24,000-ish plus travel. Final cost will depend on the exchange rate at the time of purchase. Please note this.
