WelI started this project a while back. This one is a keeper, so I'm using the parts that I've been saving for a while now. For the drivetrain, I'm running a flathead with a 3-speed top loader, and a columbia two-speed rear axle. The body is a 1928 Ford sport coupe. Heres a mockup pic. Since then I've chopped it 7" and started rebuilding the body and shortening the quarter panels 6". Heres the old and new subrails 6" removed from the new subrails heres the body mocked up <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> More to come! Deek
Nice project! Glad you are keeping it as a Sport Coupe not making another coupester. Keep updating the progress.
I love Sport Coupes. Whats the deal on the quarters? Does that make them the same as a roadster? Maybe one of these days I'll get started on mine. Kevin
looks cool, i remember seeing pictures of this awhile back somewhere? maybe im crazy haha Im curious to why you shortened the quarters? looks good, just want to know the reasoning...
Thanks guys! With the heavy chop and no 1/4 window, that section would look a little stretched, so I shortened the 1/4 panels. I'm going to install a fabric top when the time comes. Here's a few chassis pics. Im running the frame rails wide so I can drop the seat pans below the top of them. c-channel type crossmember made from 2x4 box tubing. the frame rails are actually one piece from the front to where the rear z starts. Just pie cut and bent to kick up the front and to match the contour of the body <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
You nailed the look by shortening the quarters!! We're not far from each other, I think my buddy Paulie contacted you guys to do a frame for his 31 Tudor..? Looks like he made a good choice. -Josh
Yeah, I'm in Tulare. Come by and check out the shop sometime! Here are a few more pics the 1/4 panels had a fair amount of rot and dents, but my main concern was rebuilding the T strips that were welded on years ago Here it is squared up
