I think Jim should sell it where it sits. He could honestly say that "it ran when I parked it"! Just kidding of course as I love reading about Jim's latest projects and exploits.
When I pulled my 28 chevy 3 window out of a field, I took it straight to the DMV in Tucson off Palo Verde long with a boat anchor of the a 28 chevy block. The block casting marks and the vehicle VIN are one in the same. I got clean title based on that cracked and blown out block. I recommend you do the same rather than get a new title number and something that doesn't signify what your car really is. You can then buy a reproduction VIN tag and stamp your true numbers into that. You are right, the tag is normally placed beneath the seat.
Bummer, but thanks for the ride. I really enjoyed watching what you did. What's the new owners plans?
It´s perfectly traditional to fix and sell some stuff to make room and a few bucks for the next project. Thanks for sharing this project, it was fun watching.
Right now, I'm working on my wife's "new" Airstream trailer. Since she's retiring soon. My shop is full of trailer, and trailer guts. Hopefully I get to the point of starting to put it back together again in the next week or so.
I will say Jim your always into something! Airstream's are cool what year and size are you workin on? Joe
this is a kind of small 1972 model Safari. A bit modern, but it still looks neat behind my 57 Suburban
I've been looking at old Airstreams and Scotty's to put together so I can take my Grandson's out. Just don't have the cash to get a deal done. What wouldn't look cool behind that Suburban? Joe
Well at least you saved it and put it back in the right direction, It could have just as easily been sold to someone for scrap iron and probably would have been if you hadnt stepped up.
huh...the car turned up in Tucson for sale, a year later. The price went up, and it has had some beautiful additions! https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/d/chevy/6200973266.html
I think those are just old boat trailer fenders, and are sitting only on the left side, just for the photo.
