  2. Now to the crossmember I tried to get the radius rod mounts as close to the torque tube as possible, Chevs used a slip joint bell at the front. I had thoughts of making this like a ford torque tube but I think it won't be strong enough hence the way I have gone. With the wishbone rubber and slip joint there should be minimal bind.

That is all I could do with the crossmember without having a second pair of the wishbone mounts. Good news they will be ready next week so should have them in a couple weeks

  3. Next I bit the bullet and purchased a lathe, I tried to find a vintage lathe to no avail, so...... only option was chinese :(

I moved on to the shock mounts, I turned these pins to go thru the original spring mounts, with the space being limited the covered shocks I purchased won't work so will go with the non cover shocks.

  4. This is kind of where I am at, just waiting on a few parts and also need to take a few pics of some smaller jobs I have done.

Bet that lathe will prove to be a fantastic investment.

Are the bracket side of the shock mounts Chevy spring hangers from the base chassis?

  6. The lathe has come in handy and have many more ideas to try out.

Yes I removed them from the chassis, these brackets are the rear hanger for the front end.

When I purchased my Sport Coupe the rear tube shocks were upside down to clear the larger cover that was fouling against the crossmember...I managed a work around as I see you have...so many hurdles...

  8. It is always a challenge trying to get things to work in confined spaces, as you say there are always work arounds, solutions. Part of the enjoyment in building these cars, I actually enjoy the challenges, it get frustrating at times but the effort in the end is worth it.

  9. So I thought I would do a quick post with some other projects I am collecting for. I picked up a '27 T RPU in September 2019, I am glad I was able to get it given how 2020 has turned out.
    IMG_0573.JPG IMG_0575.JPG IMG_0587.JPG

Then in October of 2019 I purchased a lot of '29 parts to replace the parts I sold in 2010 to help fund my first US trip.
    IMG_0686.JPG IMG_0688.JPG IMG_0689.JPG

While I was in the US in January I purchased a few panels for future projects '30 Model A cowl top and firewall and a '25 T cowl top. I now have a '25 T firewall, cowl top, L & R doors, door hinge & brace, windscreen posts, decklid and the front portion of the turtle deck. Next step will be to build a body buck for the T, I will start a thread for that once started.

  12. Yeah got to keep occupied. Plus it always helps to think ahead to the cars I want to build as the delay in ordering parts sucks!

  17. I received the second set of wishbone mounts from Adam Tremellen. I purchased this set for the rear radius rod mounts. I am in the middle of a shed rearrangement so will get back to the chassis sometime this week.

It’s interesting seeing all the panels you have gathered. I have been wanting a 27 T Roadster body for ages but don’t have the funds so I have done a deal. I am building a 28/29 Model A Coupe roof in exchange for some 27 Roadster panels for a mate near Sydney.

  27. Thank you!

I like to collect early and time the build comes around I can start and make whatever I don't have. Good you have a way to trade for a T, nice work on the back roof panel! I would love to get a turtle deck, I have seen 2 Oz T roadsters for sale in last 12 months but too much and too far away. I traced a T quarter while I was in the US in Jan/Feb, I will work with that and the body to build a buck.

Thank you! & I am happy people are enjoying the build.

@Pete Eastwood Adam Tremellen makes them down in Victoria Australia. I will PM you a link to his FB.

They are really nice. Hopefully I should have an update by this weekend.

  28. I recently purchased another 3-port, this one was modified in 30s or 40s. This will go on my current build. :D:D
