Some snap shots off vids from Goodwood of their “chain guards”. Lol! These guys have balls of steel to race those machines.

A 40 tooth front sprocket would be doable. I planned on using idlers to set chain tension but now im thinking of making slots where the ubolts for the rear leaf springs go which would allow the axle to be adjusted fore and aft.

Love the rigs at goodwood. I hope i can afford sprockets that look as cool as the lower one.

Today I was contemplating sending the 3d printed gears to a foundry instead of a machine shop. Ill look into pros vs cons of casting.

Would a cast sprocket have to be quite a bit thicker than a machined steel one to withstand the stresses?

Just read the whole post. I don't have enough adjectives to express the ideas and craftsmanship.
    Awesome.
Keep up the great work in 21.

Just watched an old Top Gear short vid where Jeremy Clarkson says this of the chain drive on the Brutus Bomber:

“...the chain drive from a machine the devil uses to rotissaire those who displease him..”. Lol!

It was built on a 1907 NY city fire engine chassis.

I would think a simple disc of the appropriate thickness using a water jet would suffice. I remember seeing a lot of sprockets at a farm machinery dealer when I was thinking of a chain drive trans.

    Those numbers look better!
Nothing says you couldn't have a manufactured sprocket water jetted with holes in your own pattern, unless the maker says no.
Only concern with cast is strength/hardness of the teeth. This can be planned out to work, of course.
Depending on what you can find/buy, you could use old stuff and machine the inner and outer to accept new sprocket teeth.

Even use the pictured parts and bolt it to new outer sprockets like old BMX sprockets

The front 40 tooth sprocket is available for $189 from usa roller chain. Ill still have to bore out the center and drill bolt holes but atleast its available.
My rear sprocket will have to be the custom one.

Anyways I started getting the 20210103_163211.jpg 20210103_163226.jpg 20210103_163236.jpg cockpit together.
The 28 plymouth Master cylinder im using needs a remote reservoir and I always thought an oiler would be perfect for it. So i scored one this weekend and it got me energized to figure out my steering column mount and gas pedal so I could see it in place.
I toyed with a bunch of gas pedal designs in my head before I finally settled on this one and I love it. It's simple and comfy. I may put a slight bend in it but not much else.

Intake will remain factory. I may do individual stainless exhaust around 10" long or duel lake pipe style. Still chewing it over

  16. In case it matters those cast pieces in the iron anarchy picture are seed plates from an old corn planter, you can read - this side away from seed- on the plate on the left. Newer one were made out of plastic. Not sure that is anything you want to incorporate into a drivetrain.

Sumbitch, I knew I saw them before. They take a flat chain like a manure spreader too don't they?

I dug into the engine today and found a cracked piston. On the plus side of the day I blocked off the second outlet on the water pump.
And really it is time to start teardown to complete welding 20210117_135355.jpg 20210117_134710.jpg 20210117_134455.jpg 20210117_145852.jpg and to get ready for paint. Ill keep the rear chassis together untill I figure out the chains

    Heres alittle update.
Pulled both heads and found nothing else to be concerned about. The bearings miced out in spec and the cylinder walls look damn good so im just gonna hone the cylinders of the 2 pistons I removed and reassemble when I find my new piston. 20210119_133006.jpg 20210119_133006.jpg

Interesting rocker arm setup. How about some pictures of the cylinder heads, top sides and combustion chambers?
