So Im looking to change around the look of my 48 Buick Roadmaster sedanette a bit... She needs some new rubber and im very taken with these: the ribbed sidewall looks amazing and the tread pattern is f'n awesome. I know they are more for 30s cars, but I saw these tires on a friends 48 chrysler biz coupe and they just tie everything together. the downside is that they are only available in 16" So my question to you, oh buick wheel experts, is..... Did Buicks ever come with 16" wheels that would fit my 1948 drums? also, would those wheels allow for my stock 48 dog dish caps? If they did, any of you boys have a set of 4, or know where I could get my grubby mitts on a set?
Hi....If you cant find Buick early 1940's ..look for some Cadillac 75 Fleetwood from 1941 to 1949 pretty sure there 16" also same same bolt pattern....Doug
Do those have the same locating pins like the buick drums? theres 12 holes in the stock buick rims for the locating pins and the lug bolts..
Hey ... I have a set of 1941 Buick rims 16" they do have the locating holes as you have described.....Doug
'42-'49 40 series came with 16s that'll work with your hubcaps, but they're really narrow. You'll find any other GM 5 on 5 wheel than a Buick has too small a center hole & won't fit over the hub. You'll need some 7.00 or bigger tires to hold that gal up ...
You can use your Buick centers on 40's Ford hoops... the old hot rod trick was to use reversed Buick hoops on Ford centers to give the wheels a deep dish...should work backwards I would think.
Hi ... Had a look at the 16" 1941 Buick wheels behind the shed....they do have locating holes .......Doug
Thanks for your help guys, Doug, I sent you a PM. I was cruising around today when i saw a really nice fleetline with artillerys - anyone had any expierence with newly made artillery wheels? do they make them in 16?
