Does anyone know if any wheel companies make 16" Artillery wheel? I have called all the wheel makers I'm familiar with and no one makes them in 16"
Been looking for two years. There are some early 30’s Mopar wheels with a 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern that are 16” and priced like they’re made of gold.
Why is it called an 'artillary wheel'? How about the Ford Wide5, is that considered an 'artillary wheel'?
I would have to really, really want 85 year old rusty wheels for a car. Maybe it would be safe for a restoration vehicle without a big block, radial tires, etc. but, in my opinion, using them on a hot rod would scare me. When I was looking for 16" artillery wheels for my '37 Chevy coupe I faced the same problem--none available. The nice folks at The Wheelsmith made me 15" wheels and they are great. It would be hard to tell a mounted 15" wheel from a mounted 16" wheel, I think.
