The baddest fuel coupe on the planet!! I have watched several videos on youtube of the car running, sounds like the world is coming to a end. The car is just pure evil, in a great way. What a BEAST!
when I got to the back of this thing I saw the parachute pack and realized this was no ordinary rod... imagine the looks you'd get driving down the street with a parachute pack.
Love the pictures Lou,and Jon, the coupe looks like it will chew your leg off if you get to close, this car has always had that all out mean image. The 15 oz coupe has always been a top favorite of mine, and inspired me when I built my little coupe.
I see it went thru some changes, Mostly I can see on the Front end, Big drop tube Axle, no spring, clipped grill chin, chopped inner fenders. But the rear looks like it was lowered and the 1/4s cut up pretty deep
I think Peter has plans of running on the salt, it will need some changes to the roll cage to meet the SCTA specs.
I saw it sitting at the Golden Nugget at Bonneville, bought the T shirt. It was owned by Peter Vincent at that time.
It did kinda feel like I was approaching a pit bull... wasn't sure if I'd pull back a stump after letting it sniff my hand. Was tempted to give it some Toyota parts as a treat.
The "15oz. Coupe" is one of those hot rods that I knew about growing up, but I never caught the full story. I sketched it in notebooks and even pinned a picture of it to a bulletin board in my basement for model building inspiration 10 years ago. (It's still there to this day.) One of the best parts about writing about these cars is getting to finally learn those stories directly from the owners past and present. From the "15oz." name to the "There is a difference" artwork on the grille, I worked to answer as many questions about this old Fuel Coupe that would fit into the 14-page article. Here's a glimpse at the opening spread in the all-new Rodder's Journal #74...
like you swade i listened to story's about it all the time growing up but it helps that one of the drivers was my grandpa
