You can definitely see intake manifold and blower tubing changes along with wheel swaps. I met Ernie at Bonneville.

In this age where dual wheeled wheelie bars have morphed into a single wheeled bar it is interesting to note that one of the very first ones was a single wheeled affair.

    As Ogden Nash once said,
"Progress might have been alright once, but it has gone on too long."

  10. In the early 1960's I met the team of Crosley, Williams and Swan at Connecticut Drag-way. They were having a very successful year drag racing. I helped them get 6, 392" Chrysler short blocks from City Auto Parts for $ 58.00 each. They took me out to lunch, and I remember Jack Williams ordering Lima beans with his meal. No body other than Jack Williams that I know would ever order Lima beans. I reminded Jack of that many years later at one of the Bakersfield Re-unions. I still have their business card in my collection. IIRC their dragster was sponsored by Ernie Hashim, who was the M & H tire distributor at the time.

Great insight into this iconic machine. I had always admired it and this information was fantastic!
