I would take the "cow" over the 59 any day of the week. I have seen that cow hide special covered in a magazine someplace. Maybe one of the "little books".
It is called "The Comanche" built by Walt Pasternak from Detroit. Covered in "Custom Pickups" by George Barris. Spotlight publishing co. 1963.
The YouTube channel that posted that is a treasure trove of old footage. Lots of other car related videos, plus just interesting stuff, especially if you live in DFW.
Indoor Car Shows was all there was back in that era. But there was always the local drive-in restaurants where car guys would hang out and maybe get a date with a chick who came to see the guys. Drive-ins got killed in my area by people who would park there for hours and not order any food and left no room for those who did want to eat. Today there are better quality builds at the "Cruise-Ins" than many cars at the indoor shows of the past.
If I would guess, the show was probably put on by Bob Larivee's Promotions Inc. and the airbrush artist was more than likely Stanly Mouse... He put on shows all over and he usually had one or two of Roths cars on display. I was in the "Virginians Car Club" and along with the "Ram Rods" of Silver Springs hosted the first car show in Virginia with Promotions Inc. in 1961.
Don Deere (RIP) put on most of the early Dallas Autoramas. I went as a kid in the 60s and yes Ed Roth would show up. There was always lots of fantastic candy and chrome. Angel hair was stuck all around to simulate smoke. I came away with a chrome German helmet souvenir. Good old days of childhood fun things to do on a weekend. No patina all finished cars at this time. Example
This sticker is a reproduction I’m pretty sure from the 50th anniversary, but the pin is from the promotion of that first Autorama.
