The ( I think) 35-36 Windshield frame doesn't look too bad in there. In theory it sounds awful, but in practice, kinda cool.
I guess when one thinks of Hot Rodding hot beds Nova Scotia doesn't first come to mind, but this guy had it right way back there in the late 50's-early 60's.
Awesome rod ! I love it ! I can imagine the shiny color is any number of cool light colors,Baby Blue,Yellow,Silver,Gold ect. But most likely red flames. I'm also thinking, the tires like I did, already used that were found one way or other. Being I was helping on a few rods an by late 50's ,an had got my own 28A bobtailed roadster running by 1959,I have first hand eye of the times. The car magazines/little books ect. were everywhere an ideas from them fore sure were picked out. Most far size town's had Car Clubs, being in Miami Fla. I was in 3 clubs an got an gave help through the clubs. I see the photo and in it,maybe a few things not right off seen by younger hot rod fans. The shiny* paint is really cool with it's,likely self done flame job,Chrome Acorn Nuts,Aircleaners ect. Nice channel and about 3in to 4 in. of nice low ground clear=not foolish low,but super looking. And yes, that's a radio aerial. It was a few years before I had replaced my little transistor radio with its ear bud for a real car radio, but most did use one or the other. Just liked the photo an rod in it enough to say a few words ,even bore some one likely !!
Had 3-4 friends from Dartmouth-Halifax who drove their rods to our NH rehab benefit shows in the early '70's. Great folks, Eh Junior? Don Hamm?
Great photo, I think that I have seen that car and maybe that photo in one of the little east coast magazines that I bought in the early 60's. Maybe one that had readers car photos in it on a regular basis.
The Beauty of Old Hotrods is we haven't seen all of them yet...and when we have we start all over again...The ole Hotrod Mags got into every nook and cranny of all of NA and more...Love It!!
The Windshield looks like 35/36 Ford closed car. the stansions look like 32 Ford bottoms and chopped model "A" Ford tops. How the windshield attaches to the posts is a mystery.
I love the old hot rod pictures. It's got bucket seats. So, back then, would they have most likely come from a sports car?
Hey, Ricky! Back in '56, my channeled '30 Cabriolet was coming along...Deuce frame was covered with plywood floor from firewall to rear frame kickup, and bucket seats were 'all the rage' for roadsters! Car Craft had a cool article showing how to make bucket seats from Supermarket shopping carts! (uprights and lower frames made an inverted 'U' with 24" 'feet') My bud had two of 'em, (he used the casters for an engine stand) so I cut the frames up and screwed some plywood bottoms and backs onto 'em. Foam from the upholstery shop, then covered 'em with that awful vinyl pressed tuck-n-roll fabric, stapled around the back and bottoms. Everybody went ape when they saw 'em... Hey! We oughta bring back the '50s!
