Not a day goes by that some memory of Bob pops into my head. What a wonderful man he was. I miss him.

Ya know...only met the guy in person once. He really liked my wife (;)) but he greeted me like we'd been best buds forever. I really miss his road trip stories.

    100% Correct....
Bob was in love with Hobby to the end.... we chatted in Detroit shortly before his passing...... and as he wheeled away in his chair..A great sadness overcame me.I knew it would be the last time I would see him.

He was a tough son of a bitch.
    Deep respect.

After a full day of shooting the camera gets put away in the evening, which was usually the time I would run into Bob at the Casino, or at the Hop Up Hot Dog roast, or at the Inliners BBQ, so I have but a few photos of Bob, but great memories,,, I'll see what I can dig up

Weird coincidence that you posted this. Just this past weekend I was looking through the April 2012 Rod & Custom and re-read the article on Bob's Chevy. That guy knew how to do it. I always enjoyed talking to him the few times that I did, and I loved seeing that beautiful custom cruising up the road.

The magazine's still on my desk...here's the last few words from that article (at the time Bob had already put over 110k miles on the car):

"Even after seeing so much of the country, Bob and Maggie are still seeking out new adventures on the road. By the time you read this they will have sent the Chevy to sea—and ventured on to points north. 'We're gonna drive to Seattle and put it on the ferry,' Bob says. 'From there on, it's drive to Alaska, and drive back on the Alaska highway.' Sounds like another remarkable voyage for a couple who understand that the custom experience is not just about the destination, it's about the journey."

  11. Definately! Bob was a great guy for sure! He seemed to be everywhere and was nice to everyone. I saw him more times than I talked to him, but the times I did get to talk to him are still memorable.

  12. I miss Bob as does everyone that knew him, but what I miss most is his PM's on April 16 wishing me a Happy Birthday, Bob and I share the same Birthday date. HRP

  13. What sucks it's to hear you guys speak highly of a man that I never got to meet or experience his time here on the hamb. Isn't it amazing, or overwhelming, the amount of people that enjoy this hobby, that Ryan Cochran has brought together? Wow.

  15. That was the first year I crewed for @mctim64 . Bob spent some time with us as usual. He was a great friend. My best memory was him swinging thru the Hills on his way to Ego Rama. Hanging out in my folks garage with a cold beer checking out my T assembly. We took a cruise in the Chebby up to Mt Rushmore and on top of Skyline Drive to see the city lights. Those Pontiac beltline spears actually came from Sturgis SD, I picked them up and shipped them back to Bob in Wisco

He was a Good man/Ambassador for the car hobby. Being a Wisconsin guy I met Bob back around 2000 or so, always saw him at some local shows, always sat and talked with him for awhile. Bob was the man that put me onto the HAMB something I'm very grateful for. The last summer I spoke with him, he was at peace with his health problem/situation, still upbeat, telling jokes, great attitude, But that was Bob as I knew him.

  17. Had several occasions to sit and visit with Bob. We shared some shine in Des Moines. Great, great guy and so genuine. Miss seeing him.

    Later,

    Dick

  21. Here's the HAMB meet & greet at Bonneville in 2008. Bob is the handsome bearded guy 4th from the left on the front row, then Denise, me and Don Dillard. I'm not even going to try to name the rest.

I met him at B-ville in 2012. He had his head under the dash at the Nugget, I recognized the car from the HAMB. I walked up and said you better be Bob K. He laughed and we had a talk like we knew each other for years. He came to Hershey a few years later.

I miss him a lot. Just yesterday, during a phone conversation, with a long distance friend, we talked about Bob. The man cut a wide swath.

I am in that photo. Really enjoyed the meet and greet.

  28. I met Bob at the h.a.m.b. drags, I think that it was 2007 the year before I decided to join up. We were at Mokan, standing in line to get food and drink when he came up to us and introduced himself, he acted like he had known us his whole life. As Moriarity has pointed out, he was a tremendous ambassador, not only for the sport but for the H.a.m.b. as well! Unforunately, it was the one and only time that we had the opportunity to meet. People like him are very rare!

  29. Mark, when Bob & Maggie were on their Alaskan Adventure I commented several times through out the trip but I never once clicked LIKE but I went through the entire thread and LIKED EVER SINGLE POST and rectified my short comings.

Now I gotta go find something to eat ~ man all that great looking food has made me hungry and ready to hit the road for my own adventure! :) HRP
