Cool stuff fer sure from Fremont most looks like. That 1935 Chevy standard of Bertolucci's was originally built on a challenge from another club. It was stuffed at that time with a GMC with a little firewall cut - out saving the data plate. It would continue to run/race and be show at the shows late into the 50's.
The early dry lake racing was not on El Mirage, the hills were too close, Muroc? but was closed after the war,,, Harper? maybe, or evne the dry lakes racing in Reno,,, Boy after 3:40 it was like - Whats coming next?? And finally was that the Stan Back Coupe of at 7:54 and 9:22 ???????? Great film, it was shot with high end cameras maybe a Bolex...
they closed Fremont Dragstrip in the late 80's and that piece of land is just about the only thing out there that has not been developed. I want to go back in time. lived in Fremont my whole life and only went to the drags a handful of times. could have started riding my Stingray out there about 1968 (8 years old) only 5 miles from my house where grew up.... had two fast cars in my youth and only raced my Datsun pickup at the track
Would bet it was the Nevada dry lakes as someone/filmer has connections with the Sacramento/Fremont race guys........
