Ohh... and I forgot to mention this... I've written about Clyde before. You can read that here.

I'd like to see what Tom McCahill had to say on "deLuxe hop-Ups", I grew up reading his road tests which were both informational as well as entertaining:) Interesting that TOM was in full caps:)

Figured I’d throw this in since it’s on the Best Hot Rods cover also. Here’s the Baldwin-Barker T. Pre SoCal colors. image.jpg

Yeah. I’ve got those as well... super rad, but I think that thing comes alive with the so-cal livery.

Yes I agree. Maybe akin to Don Schumacher sponsorship today! You’ve hit the big time. I think Clyde leaning on his roadster is one of the coolest hot rod pictures ever!

So-Cal's branding is so spot on. It totally fits the era in which it was created, yet it's just as fresh today.
That livery looks cool on the traditional cars as well as the off-topic eco-tech, HHR, and GM belly tank.
Alex and those guys certainly knew what the heck they were doing!

The Morris-Sturdy roadster of the 70-80's was a high boy not like the one with Clyde as a young man. Clyde was a true gentleman and I had the priviledge to know him. He had the knowledge to make a fuel flathead get down the salt and a midget and sprinter get around a track...

  12. Classic looking car. Wish we saw more built like this.

I had the honor of meeting Clyde in the late 70's when I was building a TQ midget. Spend many an evening at Associated Gear bench racing and "helping" him fabricate some parts for my car. Met a few of my hero's there as well, you could never tell who would pull up to that roll up door and honk the horn after dark. I still have that TQ with Clyde Sturdy fabricated knock off hubs, drive shaft and other little goodies he made for me. A real gentleman and a superb machinist.
