IMG_3213.JPG IMG_3214.JPG IMG_3215.JPG Never saw that as a kid , the go cart would of been a have to have if I saw it.My mom used to get mad at me for not picking the one I wanted . That nervous kid would be beside himself [me] trying to choose , Funny thing ,im still like that when buying a car.

My Dad has that very one along with the Chevy one you have pictured. He painted it in a blue that resembles the box art, but with a candy sheen too it. To top it all off he had the AMT '40 Ford sedan perched on the tailer.
It was always one of my favorites that he had on display in our den when I was a kid.

I actually don't think custom F100s are that far out...especially the unibody trucks. I always liked what Steve Szymanski did with the grille/headlight treatment on his green truck.

And Jimmy Smith's, while not a unibody, was like a rolling cartoon (meant as a compliment). The Econoline headlights and Moon tank were really neat.

Really like the one in the bottom picture.Think the grill mods really works other than the tank in the front.

There's a few versions of that kit. I haven't scored an unbuilt one, but have 3 that were built before I got them. The plan is to one day cut one flannel a shortbed and make it resemble my 61

Just looked some of the prices for those kits online.

    Not in my budget!!

    One place wanted $450.00 !!!

  10. I have a '63 I got at a model car show, just the truck no extras. I got some Modelhaus replacement parts for it. I have to dig it out to see how complete it is. I could piss off the world and make it into a NASCAR Craftsman truck...

My 1963 Uni-body longbed pick'em-up hotrod - not really custom, but really cool:

I have a great friend who has a 62, and thought "it would be cool to get him one of these kits!". Then I googled....

I sent him this thread link instead!:D

I was never a fan of the uni until the HAMB opened my eyes to them. While not in my top ten I'd build one.

I built the AMT F100 as a drag truck . I also built the Chevy version as a lowered street hot rod, with Halibrands on it. My Chevy one is a long wide box though. Still have both of them stored around here somewhere.

  17. My grandpa bought a red and white 61 Big Window long bed brand new. I built this kit 25 years ago like the one he had and gave it to him. I bought it as an already built glue bomb at a swap meet and had to soak it in brake fluid to strip it.

There was a go kart in the kit? BITD I thought that looked like Bill Burke’s Pumpkin Seed Bonneville ‘liner.

Got my 61 Unibody model from Woolworth as a 10 year old, followed by a 62 and 63. Still have them all.

The 61 (unintentionally) looks like a beat up old work truck, while the 62 and 63 still look pretty good, considering how old I was at the time of build.

Unfortunately, the 60 Chevy pickup disappeared about twenty five years ago. It too was in tough shape. I suspect one of the kids had something to do with its mia status.

Moebius models has recently come out with 1965-66 Ford pickups in long bed, short step side and styleside bed, and a service bed version. Hobby Shops only if you can find them.

The kart in the bed looks a lot like the Orangecrate (except the windscreen):

    More on the Orangecrate here.
