Yes, it is truly an important piece of functional, American history. I remember seeing it at the Museum of Science and Industry before GM removed it.
All the time it was at the Museum of Science and Industry it was in working condition. They also had a GM display where you steered a small car on a revolving street. They were removed from the museum in around 1988-89 timeframe. They also had 1/2 of a Futureliner on display also. Denny
Thanks for posting , I enjoyed seeing this impressive display. Thanks to GM for restoring it and keeping a bit of past America on display. Hopefully a few youngsters see it.
Yes there was a limited bunch of steel models built of the Futurliners, I got a cover for this one and screwed and glued everything down and open for display,as usual people wanted to touch it and one of the door hinges gave out and a mirror fell off so with it under glasss I had no more problems.
