Great story! Thanks for the pictures. My wife and I are planning on taking out daughter to the Hot Rod Dirt Drags in Colorado this upcoming spring!!! She said she wished she could have gone with us this year but things didn't work out with her dad and stepmom. The next one we are all looking forward to!
You did a great thing for your kids. But now you might have to suffer the repercussions like kids wanting one of them damned hot rods! I was so pissed at my dad. It was 1960 or 61 and he took his Harley 45 to the drags our little town had once a year. I knew nothing about it until after the fact...the next day. He knew what a gear-head I was and didn't take me with him. I didn't see drag races 'till I was in high school. I was hooked.
RPM Nationals was a blast and very family friendly. My wife and kids helped load and unload, were my pit crew and my biggest fans. It's great to enjoy this hobby with your family.
My grandson and I took a road trip to the dirt drags this year and had a great time. He and my granddaughter and I try to hit car related events every weekend we can during the summer. My grandson gets dreamy eyed every time he looks and rides in my off topic 80 Chevy step side. It's off topic to us but it's ancient to him, I think a grandpa grandson build for that truck in time for his 16th birthday is going to happen. The RPM Nationals were a blast. It just wouldn’t have been as amazing as it was without my biggest fan cheering me on at the line and going for joy rides around the pit. I’m so thankful to have a daughter who thinks I’m still kind of cool.
Y'all are messing with my mind! Had seen Jay's JJ post, then went back to it to comment, and Voila! It is not Jay's post anymore, it is yours! I admit to confusion . . . anyway, nice work Joey . . . or Jay . . . Cool event.
