Would love to see pictures of the place; sounds very cool. What would be the main purpose of the vehicle? Taxiing guests? Hauling supplies back from town? The depot hack would be my first choice for the setting.
Yes this is an A, but I love C Cabs,,, a place for the 'farm/ranch' name and room to haul the seed and feed (forgot to mention, this is on local CL)
here's a cool model A Martin Parry mattress truck that needs a good home. I have too much on my plate these days. The brakes are FAR better on that big hill than a T.. (salesmen's talk) lol
Not a T, but a 1928 A speedster on Chattanooga Craigslist for $6500. The email contact is [email protected] . I'm sorry but I don't know how to add a link to this site.
I love my T roadster, but it's only good for hauling one other modest-sized person (or two little boys) and enough stuff for a car show in the turtle deck. For hauling people and stuff, I think your friend would be better off with the depot hack or the huckster. In a pinch, he could use a touring (and have add a top for inclement weather).
Ditto on alchemy's opinion! However, it's l-o-n-g way from CT where the truck is to CA. If I were in the market for something (I know better to buy another project) I'd be wishing the truck was closer to Missouri! Lynn
@Jive-Bomber Jay - My vote is for a Model T Station Wagon (i.e., "Depot Hack") ... but not a "flivver with patina." I would think your buddy is trying to replicate a circa 1920s Train Depot ... so the paint on the depot's vehicle(s) wouldn't have had a chance to wear down and/or rust much. Something like this '23 Station Wagon on display at the Henry Ford museum would be perfect:
Rolleiflex asked the question, "What would be the main purpose of the vehicle?" Model T's came with many different body styles to suit many different uses. If the main purpose is to haul passengers, then a Depot Hack is the body style which was intended for that. If you're hauling "stuff," you can't beat a Pickup. Hucksters are like pickups with a top extending over the goods, so it would be better for hauling stuff in inclement weather. The intended purpose for the vehicle should dictate the body style.
Piled a lot of miles on my old "A", I love and wanted a "T" but wasn't sure about the speeds (and other drivers) around my town. Either way these sure are fun.
A nice depot hack/station wagon would be my choice unless the length of the passenger list would never exceed what you could fit into the bench seat of a roadster pickup.
I just finished my tt huckster.... It is a fun machine... Has a hopped up t engine. And a rear facing seat behind the bench for additional passengers.
If you get a T if it's not a 26 or 27 the 25 and back they will be backing up the hill because of the gravity flow fuel system with the tank under the seat, does not work well going up a grade.
