Well, I left out for East Tx, 10-3-09 from Gainesville GA in my '41 Dodge truck. Took an hour siesta at a truck stop in Talladega Alabama at 2pm. Blew a trailer tire at mile marker 50 in Alabama, had the trailer towed to Boligee Alabama, and wound up spending the night in Eutaw Alabama. After back tracking to Tuscaloosa to get trailer tires, I then made it to Forest Mississippi, where the rain from tropical storm Olaf forced me to another room. Monday morning stopped at Waffle House in Brandon MI., and crossed the Mississippi River at noon. Monroe Louisiana Ihop at Pecanland Mall around 3pm, then Shrieveport at rush hour. By the way, has I20 been repaved since 1971 there? Crossed into Texas around 6 after another fill up and leg stretch, and made it to Longview at around 8:00 pm Monday 10-5-09. This truck had NO wipers, a plexiglass windshield, no door glass, heater, etc., and was LOADED down with a Body / Mechanic shop of 15 yrs. Nice Adventure.
A few more of the flooding that came a 1/2 inch from entering the shop floor, and lumber for the office, etc.
its funny your signiture is making fun of rock-a-billy. and you cleary have one of the biggest RAT rods on this site. how ironic.
btw i love the spiderweb grill where can i get on of those? you didnt make such a piece of art right, i mean that has to be professionally fabbed up.
Every time I see a big crossflow radiator mounted on the front of a "hotrod" or any naked radiator, downflow or crossflow for that matter, I hope that the driver has done that just for a test drive, or emergency repair. I am always wrong. Sounds like a fun trip hope you learned something by posting your adventure, something like "When building a car, step back every now and then and LOOK at what you have done. If you hear little kids in the neighborhood laughing as they ride by on their Schwinns, ask someone, ANYONE, you know, if perhaps your sense of art and automobiles is just a little bit skewed.".
Really... your going to jump on this when you have more than a few paged of people calling you car a shit box with its sagging roof... Really... ***edit some one beat me to the punch***
i wouldnt kick this guys ass too hard, just see it as an oportunity to teach him the right way to build cars. after all, that is what the hamb is for
haha say what you want, fires happen. @ least i didnt have to go to a newer chassis and motor to get mine to run.
wont be that way for long. dont worry bout that. besides i guess running late model chevy running gear is the traditional thing to do.
So, Southern state troopers aren't pulling people over anymore? Or did you do all your driving at night?
um I see people posting about driving cars like that all the time here. no windshield wipers, heater, etc. I think it was a pretty interesting trip if you ask me, just overlook some of the stuff on the truck, at least he drove it.
