With the understanding that many of you probably embark on lengthy trips with your rides, In full disclosure I have never wandered off more than say 150 miles in any of mine. This Thursday after spending Monday performing routine maintenance and checks, Mrs AVater and I headed out to the Hemmings Cruise In in Bennington VT in my pickup, visited with Hot Rodder and Veteran Racer Bruce Carman, headed up to the VT Automobile Enthusiasts annual show on Waterbury VT then arrived back home this afternoon. All told, more than 500 miles and a whole lot of fun. Truck ran like a champ! Pictures first show some of Bruce’s work followed by the event at Hemmings. Yes, it rained in Bennington.
I think Vermont is made for vintage vehicles. Lots of two lanes, many small towns and plenty of sights to see along the way. Looks like you had a great trip, Thanks for sharing it. Do they still have the Hill climb at Mt. Equinox?
Jim, thank you. Enjoyed the ride very much and happy I stretched it out a bit. Great weather with the exception of Thursday PM.
I believe you are correct however there are a number of spots with weak/zero cell connection making a breakdown a bit more challenging. Not sure re Mt Equinox event. Would do the trip again given the overall great weather.
Pete, just looked it up. It was this weekend in Arlington put on by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America.
Congratulations on your excursion, planing a road trip to a distant location can be exciting & uneasy at the same time, after all your out of your comfort zone and as the old adage goes nothing ventured, nothing gained. You proved to yourself the truck is up to the task and I'm sure you had a great time with memory's that will last for years to come, we always remember that epic road trip. HRP
Thank you all. All the thought that went into the trip kept bringing me back to this old saying: “you need to do something that scares you once in a while”. Having considered that I tried to do the kinds of things that limited the risk. In the end, happy to say I didn’t need to add a drop of water or oil or fix anything. Along the way we had fun and made some memories. Maybe equinox next year?
