On my single seater I have accelerator on the right, brake on the left foot and a hand clutch with the left hand. Took a few drives to get use to but super easy now.

For the avoidance of crispy fried ankle bones I installed heat shields in mine.

Lift my foot for the shortened clutch which is just about usable to start and stop, only use 2nd and 3rd which I can slip shift when moving.

  6. Yeah I think I might have to think a bit more about my mounting on the trans and see some other options. On a better note I did a wee mock up with some arts and crafts I will section the grill tomorrow and see what it looks like mounted.. 7. Anyone mounted off the bottom or mid plate? Saving all this room?

This is what I did on my single seater. It a flathead dodge powered car with a dodge pickup three speed some what like the ford trans in the clutch pivot shaft are very similar. I used ford pedal arms for the brake and accelerator but welded the dodge pickup pads to them. I used the dodge pickup emergency brake handle for the hand clutch. 3AF12468-3687-408E-A002-8E07BA86F62F.jpeg 529BAC07-B1FF-44FB-A2B6-CB4C524558E5.jpeg B02E7630-7F58-41E6-995C-897ACD5BB2AE.jpeg C7C29292-82AE-4E32-8F5B-BF38A89C69C3.jpeg

Have a look at a 33-34 trans mount.

The mounting ears are closer together than the later versions and it is rubber insulated so you can solid mount the ears and not need the biscuit mounts. It frees up a lot of space in that area.

@282doorUK , can you tell me more about that handbrake lever? I really like the looks of it, trying to figure out if it's custom or stock...

Sorry to derail your thread, Jorda. This Shoe horn is looking better every time I check in! Impressive stuff, and quite inspiring :)

  29. They come up in the US every now and then, they were an accessory for the larger bellied drivers. I saw one at the Lone star roundup a few years ago but didn’t buy it, kicking myself but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
