I for the life of me can’t find any info on this camshaft on the internet. I figured someone here might know. The cam I pulled out of my ‘62 260 V-8 has 22 and R stamped on the snout. 22 and 15 stamped between 2 of the journals, and FoMoCo. I don’t find these numbers on any of the Ford cam ID charts anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks!
Are you sure of the year of that motor? Chilton's Manual shows '62 as 221" : 260" was added in '63(221" continued)
Yes. The code in my door jamb said it was a 260. Measurement of the cylinders verified it as a 260 also. Date code says it’s a ‘early ‘62 casting. And it was my grandfathers car since new, so I know it’s history since it rolled off the dealerships lot when the car was new. My old Chiltons is the same way, listed just the 221 for ‘62, but it’s wrong. https://www.cartechbooks.com/techtips/ford-small-block-general-data-and-specifications/
BTW, I doubt the cam is original, as my grandfather had the engine rebuilt in 1980. But it does have the FoMoCo stamp, so I just want to verify what grind he put back in when engine was rebuilt.
Thanks. Yeah it’s looking like it. I figured there would be more info available for an old Ford made cam
Might give it a try over on the Ford Barn, but the Degree wheel/dial indicator will remove all doubt....
