Can anyone tell me the make and model this transmission came out of-

    It is a 4L60 with serial number: 3 P F M 1 6 1 P

    casting # 8676358
    MD 8
    16

My research tells me the first digit is the year.........1993

the 2nd and 3rd digits designates the model, PF

and the 4th digit confirms it is a 700R4.

Does anyone know what model "PF" stands for. I'm thinking Pontiac Firebird but have no confirmation.

I need to purchase the T.V. cable for it.

    Thanks,
    Mike:cool:

nope.well sort of with more jobs.read post 5
Function of the TV Cable: Many people believe that this is a detent downshift cable and that this is the only function that the cable performs. In actuality, the TV Cable controls line pressures, shift points, part throttle downshifts and detent downshifts. The cable functions similarly to the combination vacuum modulator/cable systems found on other automatic transmissions.

sort of, but on some transmissions like the 700 and 200 there is no vacuum modulator, so the throttle valve is what determines all the shift points/line pressure and if it's not right, it's easy to smoke the transmission. The TH350 has a kickdown cable, and a vacuum modulator, so the cable is like the kickdown linkage on a ford or Powerglide..it just makes it kick down into passing gear, and is not so critical.

You are correct...thats what a TV cable does. It sets the line pressure by how hard you are on the throttle and when the road speed has the Governor spinning fast enough to over come that pressure you get a SHIFT.
