Next job on the list, rock solid brake pedal and no power. I've checked the vacuum and there is definitely sufficient up to the point of the pipe...

and right you are! there isn't sufficient grounding to the inner fender apron. I grounded the solenoid back to the chassis and it all worked...

Cheers fellas. The connections to the solenoid were considerably corroded so have cleaned them up and all the ground connections too, and hey...
More Woes!! :( the bendix part is now on the starter and i've hooked it all back up again. Turned the key and the damn thing still wont turn over...
