The Jalopy Journal
On you tube there are videos of the B&S v8 being built, running, and installed in a garden tractor. It has since been con erred to water cooling....
I also agree with not chopping it. And as a side benefit it will be easier to get in and out of as we aren't getting anymore flexible as we age.
Flyer has it right, I think.
Then I guess it's not Buick powered as it says!
You want to still be able to hear when You're in your 60s! Nothing makes a short trip seem long like excess noise.
Most of the noise from a "rowdy v8" comes from the exhaust. A diesel has a lot of mechanical noise, including diesel knock that comes directly...
Looks like a unique and fun project. Curious how you plan on insolating the cab from the diesel and road noise.
The Olds engine was a flat head and the Chevy is an OHV so it won't look original. Olds made a flat 6 into the early 50s so one one of those might...
He has an early 194, 1929 to 37, the first stove bolt. Not one of the 60s 194 which was part of the second generation Chevy sixes.
An easy way to correct the shock angle would be to extend the shock mount on the axle a couple of inches lower.
What type of heads see on that engine. Sure doesn't look like Buick.
V4 and v6 2 cycle outboard use a single crank so 2 cylinders must share the same crankcase.
Sure looks like a 2 stroke v8 alright. More info please.
Thx for the links, very interesting
Who made them?
What kind of head was that, with 3 intake ports on the distributor side?
Thanks, Gofannon
What was purpose of placing the exhaust valve in a resessed pocket?
From 1959 to 1962 the 261s in Canadian Pontiacs was rated at 150hp. Don't know if the bump was real or imagined. Even saddled with a power glide...
I would think that whatever fits a 58 Chevy would work in a 58 Canadian Pontiac as they are the same mechanically.
Would be a much more interesting thread with some discretion of the trucks. At least make and year.
Might be boring but makes for a dependable cruiser!
Nice car! What does it have for a drive train?
It does look nice chopped, but looks quite unique not chopped.
I stumbled across your thread. Great job! I am a couple of years your junior and also still enjoy working on my car. As far as chopping yours it...
Very interesting article, thanks for posting.
Hi Six ball, I just stumbled on your interesting thread. Love your project. Also love your 5 window, what are you running for an engine in it?...
I was wondering if anyone would recognize it. J Hansen is right. It is a Nash 195.6 cu in flat head six. The one in the car has a single I barrel...
Here are 2 versions of a somewhat odd engine. The intake was cast into the block and there was no exhaust manifold. The small shared ports...
I think the caption in the article has a typo, should read v12. I if you count the spark plugs there are only 6 per side.
Separate names with a comma.
