The Jalopy Journal
Yeah it's a fully assembled running '73 350. I started it up and it ran but has bad compression on two cylinders so I plan for a full rebuild....
Just found Edelbrock is doing a $150 rebate on their E-Street heads bringing them to almost 750. http://www.edelbrock.com/e-street-rebate/
I think that's a pretty good idea.
I don't know that I can DIY a valve grind and put new guides in myself. The machine shop that mag'd the heads said there was one or two guides...
Damn i missed that one. I saw the $60 vortec. I'm from a pretty small town though and usually only get one or two swap meets a year.
What missing posts?
That's not really where I'm at. I've been driving this chevy for the last 5 years. I know the rest of the car is in good shape and decent. I had a...
They are going in my boring run of the mill '69 impala. I had my engine go out and found a '73 4 bolt 350 block in need of a rebuild to go back...
Yeah i've read through that article actually. Those speedway heads were what I was debating about. It just seems like it might be a better piece...
Like the title states, I was planning to work a pair of vortec heads into my 350 rebuild. I picked them up for 175 and just had them tanked,...
He doesn't have it anymore or he didn't have it to begin with. His 8" rear end came out of a 63 Galaxie and from what I can read that width will...
Wow, you make everything seem so easy! Here I am with a bunch of rusty parts struggling to even find a rear end and you just casually knock it out...
I know I botched that title I was hoping no one would notice
I plan to get a bit rowdy with this car so I'd like the 9" over the 8". Sooo which one to get? 58" Ford 9" - $300 58" Ford 8" - $100 58" Dana 44...
Alright, I got off the phone with the guy who has the 9". At this point I think I'll be getting a different rear end and I'll be doing the...
Huh. I have a parts corvair from my '66 build. That's where I was going to plunder my steering box, I didn't know I could maybe steal the springs...
So with either the bronco or this galaxie/ltd rear end I should do the original suspension setup? Any thoughts if i'll have to chop the frame...
yeah It probably was. Maybe an LTD. There is a local guy who would take this 9" and $100 for a smaller one from a bronco with 5 1/2 bolt pattern I...
Like the title states, I'm trying to find the best way to mount this Ford 9" to the back of my stock frame. The front is an original 28 front end...
I ordered some 11/16 bushings from jakes. they were less than $10 shipped
I have two sets of leaf springs I got for working on my '30 front end. I purchased the 3/4" nylon shackle kit with the intention of reusing the...
Well i got it last night. He had another one and said I could have either one. I won't be around to pick it up for awhile but he had no problem....
I am trying to offer helping him out. He's doing a full restore of a '31 pickup right now. I'd learn a lot and I'm sure he'd love the help. We had...
I'm heading there after work. I'm going to have to leave it there for awhile but that's no problem. I'll snap a pic for you guys though.
okay perfect. He's such a nice guy and gave me a bunch of parts that are probably the cost of the frame already so I was already comfortable...
Is that an okay deal? I found a guy locally. It's been sanded and primed and is in good shape. He's a really nice guy who gave me some other parts...
Yeah I have a lot of options. I think if I can source a Model A frame I'll go the tried and true method and maybe leave this Chevy frame intact...
I'm pretty sure i'll be running the ford front end. It's in the pictures uploaded in my first post.
Alright, I'm on the hunt then! Need a frame and a front leaf spring.
Looking at pictures it seems like the Model A frame has a taper toward the front right? So if I would try to use these chevy frame pieces I'd have...
