The Jalopy Journal
I am 77 years old, just got back from my air force reunion in Myrtle Beach. When I was young I owned a `32 Chevy coupe with a Corvette 283 engine....
I agree `37. Every evening I bring up the Internet radio, sit back, look at the old photos on this site and relax. I have seen much in my 76...
In June 1956 I crossed the ocean on my way to Germany in a C-54, courtesy Uncle Sam. In 1959 I came home thinking I would fly in a Super Connie,...
I agree, it's a classic. I was in the 496th FIS in the mid 50's at Hahn Air Base in Germany and worked on the F-86D.
A bygone era... [IMG] [IMG]<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:p

Class of 1955. I had a `48 Plymouth two door sedan with a split manifold. More bark than bite! I had owned several old Fords prior to the Plymouth.
Thanks Greg for verifying this. You have to see it to believe it. Apparently the stud cools faster than the manifold, shrinking just enough to...
The coolest thing I ever saw on stud removal was in a muffler shop. Several years ago I dragged home a 1932 Chevy coupe and the engine ran good...
I had the same issue with my `35 Ford. It had sat for over 35 years in the dry. Many parts were missing and the engine was stuck. We unstuck the...
I will be 76 next month and have two projects, a `35 Ford Cabriolet and a `51 F1. I enjoy the time I spend on them. I still own the 37 Chevy...
Although our numbers are dwindling we still have reunions in Myrtle Beach every year. [IMG]

Just a word of caution on your engine stand. Flatheads should be mounted by the exhaust port bolt holes. They can break at the bellhousing. [IMG]
Sturgis, You have it right. I went with the washer in the hose, it just got hot faster!
This is an easy question. Just start a big project and work until you need a tool you don't have. Go buy it.
Welcome to the world of flathead Fords. Your problem is more common than you think. Check your engine oil. If you cracked your block the oil will...
Delux, Here is Mac VanPelt's Website. The engine color varied over the years. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_specs-90to125late.htm
No doubt, it is an addiction. With two old cars and an old truck I have run out of inside storage. The every day car and truck sit out in the...

Insurance companies are your friend until you need them!
BTW, the radiator sits closer to the firewall on a V-8, but the truck has factory drilled holes for the mount. I am having my radiator modified...
I am doing just the opposite in a `51 Ford pickup, by replacing the six with a flathead V-8. The transmission bolted right up to an 8BA, the front...
