The Jalopy Journal
Easy to tell apart. Set them on top of one another. If they are the same side to side, then 51/2 if there's a taper, then they're 49/50
Could use a cheap hf drill pump. Think they have them for a few bucks usually.
That's the plan. I just don't feel that this trans being both a factory oddball and weak in new form is going to be worth a low level rebuild....
Exactly. This trans is in the running since it's sitting on my garage floor. If the consensus is that with the addition of a possible shift kit,...
Yeah it's complete. was supposedly saved from a running driving car and has just been sitting under a bench since
I wouldn't mind putting it in the car and running it until something else comes along. As long as the measurements are the same, I think i'll...
Definitely a TH200. One piece case. No modulator on the case like you mention
Thanks! I'll leave it right on the shelf then
Picked up a Th200 (not a 200r4) thinking originally that it was a Th350 trans. I know this is essentially a weaker version of the 350...
Can you imagine someone looking at that frame with that body and saying "yeah that'll work?" Good job on trying to save it!
Yup, like everyone else said. 51-52 Chevy
So just out of curiosity, what's too much pressure in a sbc? My 283 is pegging a 100 lb gauge. I'm tempted to pull it back out and change the hv...
Thanks for the video!
What are your motor mounts like? Any chance of lowering them (or trimming the rubber)?
They come in three different types. 49-50, 51-52 and 53-54
49 and 50 are different side to side. Looks like you're sol on those. I went through the same thing
Looks like you picked up a set of 51-2 skirts
May not be automotive. I wouldn't be surprised if they were from industrial doors or appliances
Ansen made them for all sorts of companies with different labels on them. I have the same set with just a chevy emblem.
They usually just have a light bulb attached to the back of the guage panel so it shines through the slot
Just took it out of the bag to take a pic. New aluminum hei for the later Chevy six. Should fit 194, 250 and 292. This is also the unit you want...
There's some irony in that guy's username.... Glad you were able to get your parts.
When they break out their check book and start buying parts for your car, that's when their opinions start to matter...
Run both! Can't see both sides of the car at once!;)
If you decide you need parts, try finding a junkyard latch from a rear door of a 4 door. In theory they would have seen a lot less use, as...
Maybe try piecutting it then rewelding once you get the bend you want.
I like it! Looks very similar to my friend's 46
^ Very helpful post  Like what was said above, it very well could've been a truck that was put together when parts were left over. Or...
Thanks! This is the perfect example of how projects spiral out of control haha. This started as a rusty, flat black car with a 216 that I was...
Thanks for the info so far guys! It sounds like I really can't go wrong with any of the options mentioned so far. From what I'm seeimg, they all...
