I had just finished putting an intake manifold on my 283, got it all torqued down. Then realized I had
an old heater hose connection that I...
I have two vented caps in one of my valve covers, is that good, or do I need one in each. Thanks.
If I remove the crankcase breather in the valley, what would I do to replace it. It is too big in diameter and hits the manifold I want to use.
Anyone know the rpm range of a stock 283 sbc camshaft. Motor came out of a 1961 Biscayne. Thanks.
I took the spacer out a while ago. Throttle shaft is fine, nice and tight, no movement. Idle mixture screws are only
out 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns....
saltflats. The carb is perfectly level.
I knew I didn't have to remove the carb, but didn't want to make a big mess if it had fuel in it. Anyway, I just took
off the bowl and it was...
Ok, back again, thought I had the problem solved, but.... Been a while since you guys helped me get this
thing running, been working on the...
Got a link to that, I couldn't find it.
Ok, thanks. That clears it up for me. Appreciate everyone's help.
Ok, thanks. I'm not using the headlight or door switch, so I guess I can just use the red and black.
Still confused. Here's a little diagram. Two pole switch. One pole to 12v, other pole to red wire on light.
Black wire goes to ground. Where...
Bought a dome light that has three wires. Hot, ground and zero. What is the zero line and where do I connect it? Thanks.

Still can't get the idle...
I really don't think it was idling, but that's as low as I could get it and still have it run on its own. If I turn in the
idle mixture screws...
Did a vacuum test today and it wasn't too bad, although the idle is still fairly high, right

I have a holley 600 cfm carb on a sbc 283, with a single four barrel tunnel ram and a 2" spacer. Seems to run ok off idle, but as soon as I let it...
Thanks for all the help guys, I appreciate it. Tomorrow the 283 heads go on. I'll update this thread once I
get it running, should be by the...
So you think going with the 283 heads with the smaller CC's would be the way to go. Thanks for the help.
Both heads look exactly alike, there are two shorter bolts. The reason I am questioning the push rod length is because I had to really loosen up...
The heads on my motor came off a 68-69 307 sbc. I have a set of heads from a 63-67 283 that are completely rebuilt, all new valves, springs,...
